Review: Dervishes Don't Dance by Kim McDougall 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Valkyrie and pest controller Kyra Greene has a dervish apprentice who will protect her from brownies, do into scary basements with you and is incredibly proud to be the one to help her (and save her). In this story, a Guardian is dead. Fae are going missing and someone unknown has let a golem loose in the town. Kyra is the only pest controller qualified to handle all of these magical creatures - can she protect everyone while saving all the creatures?
This was such a fun read as we experienced all of the complications in Kyra's life. Throughout it all, she handled everything thrust at her and protected as much life as she could even if it was at the price of her safety. I loved the way that we learnt all about the various creatures and experienced through the story the reason they were there as well as what she did in order to preserve life. There was a lot of drama and danger in the stories while the love interest that was there between her and gargoyle Mason. Easy to read and understand it was very addictive and I just know I need to read the next story in the series to find out what happens next.

Review: Crushing on Kenzie by Cassandra Lawson 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Years ago Jos gave Kenzie a secret kiss that he really should be forgetting - except he just can't - he even dreams about her. Kenzie is his Deluded Serenity bandmate Caeden's little sister and that makes her off-limits. The band are about to start their first big tour and that should help him to resist temptation. After one more forbidden kiss he is in big trouble - he can no longer pretend he doesn't want her. After crushing on Kenzie for years, she’s finally in his arms again, and he is determined to make her his.
I loved this story which had so many ingredients that together make for a great romance story. The forbidden love, the failure to resist, the determination to be with the person you love and how to earn trust in a relationship. I was completely addicted to the story and stayed up about 2 hours past my usual bedtime just because I had to find out what was going to happen next. I loved the way it ended and I can't wait to see what happens next. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Reborn: Myra by Michelle Fox 3 of 5 stars
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
In order to pay for treatment for her Mum as well as keep a roof over their heads, Myra has to become a Blood Courtesan in order to get money. Before she knows it she is sharing a bed with Vampire Kristos Anastos. Then bullets start flying and they are actually after her not Kristos - can everyone be kept safe? A nice short story but it was a bit lame in places and I wish Myra was a bit more intelligent.

Review: Quentin Black: Birthing Dragon (Quentin Black Mystery Series #10-12) by J.C. Andrijeski My rating: 5 of 5 stars 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A great value boxset containing:
TO BLACK WITH LOVE (Quentin Black Mystery #10) - 5*
Decorated vet and ex-cop Nick Tanaka has been missing since the mess on Koh Mangaan. Black and Miri have been looking for him all over Europe so it appears time to face facts - he is dead - the only question is was it in the fire or did the vampires kill him? Uncle Charles is whipping up a civil war in the US to get the humans to kill all vampires and so when they return to San Francisco they face potential danger from the “Purity Movement” who are starting riots all over the place. Charles continues to pressure them to join him and the vampires are worried too and request an alliance in return for an update on Nick. With all these strands how is it going to progress for Miri and Black and will they find the vampire King's information impossible to resist forming an alliance with him?
This story was a little flow to start as it focused on the search for Nick but it soon transformed into the kind of story I would expect from this author/series. Lots of developments, twists, turns plots, sub-plots and surprises kept hitting me as I read this story. Some I could possibly have predicted, some were very different to how I expected it to develop(in a good way) and gives me the promise of some major developments in future books in this series. As events started to kick off I became more addicted to the story and needed to know what was going to happen next. It was a great ending with some surprises and the promise of some major events in the future. Well written and easy to understand if you have read the previous books in this series you will definitely enjoy this one.
BLACK DREAMS (Quentin Black Mystery #11) - 5*
Miriam's dreams start following her back into the real world, scaring the hell out of her husband, military-trained seer, Quentin Black.
If you have read one or especially both of the Bridge and Sword World and Quentin Black series by this author you will adore this story. It will give you closure on the former and a major development for the latter. I'm struggling with what to write without spoiling this story for the reader, so all I can say is OMG and wow. Well written and clear/easy to understand this can be read even if you are not familiar with the series but you will get so much more from this if you have.
BLACK OF HEARTS (Quentin Black Mystery #12) - 5*
Miri and Black are back to their own version of Earth and have to face the growing race war with very dark implications. He knows that Miri will be targeted by both sides of the conflict when they realise what her new powers are really capable of but in the meantime, it appears that Nick is still missing, they are assuming that Dalejem is dead, the vampire race is preparing for an all-out war, riots are raging in the human population and Miri's seer uncle is still aiming to take over the planet and is locking down the country. Then Black feels it - he is caught and Miri is caught too. When he realises that the separation pain and panic will be enough for him to lose his cool - something they are going to regret. The question is can they find each other and can Miri calm him back down?
OMG - so many interesting events happened in this story that involved all of the races, Black, Miri, Nick and Dalejem in particular. The problem with such a book like this is you can't put it down, you need time to catch up in your mind to all the events as they happened, and you just have a NEED to know what is going to happen next - especially as it felt that it ended on a cliffhanger. Well written and clear/easy to understand, this book was a joy to read and the book pushed the Quentin Black story in an interesting direction that I'm looking forward to reading in the future.

Review: Quentin Black: Rise of the Seers (Quentin Black Mystery Series #7-9) by J.C. Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A great value boxset containing three great books in the Quentin Black series:
BLACK TO DUST (Quentin Black Mystery #7) - 5*
Black is in the New Mexico desert to meet an old war friend who needs help solving the spate of murders and kidnappings affecting the reservation. But what at first seemed to be cut and dried soon turns into something much bigger which is being orchestrated by a banished shaman. So Black's plan to distract himself from his marriage problems is now some of his worst fears from his past. In order to crack what is going on, he needs to persuade Miri to come out and join him, but then when she arrives it all starts going out of control faster and faster. Can they stop what is happening or will they be torn apart forever?
The story starts slow with Black being particularly miserable because of his brave attempt to give Miri the space to think about things, but it soon became more and more dramatic as events developed. I loved the way it involved people from all generations and that it tied it to his old friends as well as some new players that I expect to see more of later in the series. I loved the linkage with the Bridge and Sword books and how it was all fitting nicely together like a jigsaw puzzle. It was well written and I could definitely feel and empathise with the thoughts and emotions of the characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series now.
IN BLACK WE TRUST (Quentin Black Mystery #8) - 5*
Quentin Black is a psychic detective and together with his wife Miri they find themselves on the run from all the US government departments he used to work with as a coup is underway. So they are forced to flee the country as they try to work out who is behind this coup and make deals with their own enemy - vampires. When they return to Washington DC and the centre of the conspiracy Black starts to realise that he somehow needs to stop the architect from repeating history in a really bad way. Can Black do anything to fix things?
Wow - this story was just full of intrigue, drama, action and passion. I loved the way this book pulled together so many elements that anyone who has read the Bridge and Sword World by the same author will recognise some characters, some mannerisms and some parts of the story (although reading it is NOT a prerequisite). The person behind the coup and their aims were a complete surprise that I didn't quite pick up, and it left a lot of questions that I'll need to wait for the next book in this series to tell me answers to. Well written and packed with twists and turns, this was a really enjoyable read.
BLACK THE SUN (Quentin Black Mystery #9) - 5*
Black and Miri are on the island of Koh Mangaan which is half a national park and half his personal resort/retreat and more recently a refugee centre for those seers running from Lucky Lucifer (Miri's Uncle Charles). Two Japanese tourists go missing and the park rangers come to black asking for help to find them as they fear they have been taken by the Nachtsonne (Night Sun) who have lived on the island for decades in the mountains. Black and Miri are busy and so send Nick, Angel, Cowboy, Dex and Jem to search for them and they go missing. Still busy Black will send the least likely person in to help retrieve them - the question is will they get there in time and what will be the cost of this help?
OMG - this both finally gave me something that has needed to be completed for some time, whilst suddenly opening all sorts of new questions that I now need to have answered. It was full of twists, turns, drama, tenderness and new mysteries. I loved the setting for this book which was described in great detail so I could feel it and imagine I was there. During parts of it, I definitely wanted to hug and comfort some of the characters and just hope in the next instalment they make a full recovery. You can read this stand-alone but it is better if you have read the previous books. Either way definitely a recommended read.

Review: Impulsive by K.E. Osborn 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Neon is the tech guy for the Houston Defiance MC. Oakley is following in her Dad's footsteps and is a leading drag racer. When they met she sassed Neon and she just captured his attention even though she has ties to a rival MC. His first instinct is to protect her no matter the cost. Can he do that without knowing her more than this or are the sparks that are flying between them fated to stay an unfulfilled history? Can they trust each other and are they prepared for the chaos and danger that is about to descend on them? Particularly when the cause might be nearer to home than they think?
Wow - this was smoking hot mixed with a rollercoaster ride through drama, danger and multiple parties who are new to the game. There were times when I thought I knew where the danger would come from only for it to change and be from someone else. They were definitely made for each other and so it was thrilling to experience a HEA at the end of the story for them although things were set up nicely for the next book in the series which is going to be pretty major based on how this one ended. Well written, easy to read and understand I could definitely feel and empathise with the characters in this book. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Wrangled Fate by Cecilia Lane 3 of 5 stars
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
In a desperate bid to find her missing brother, Tansey Nichols follows a lead to Montana's Black Claw Ranch to demand answers from the owner and bear shifter Ethan Ashford. When Ethan says he does not know her brother and has never met him she decides to make him talk by using the gun she has with her. Thankfully she missed his boots and so in one quick move he captures her and now it is time for her to answer a few questions of his own. His instincts tell him she is a terrible danger to the balance between him and his shifter as she is his mate. But when gunshots ring out across the ranger targeting her Ethan realises that she was set up by her information source. The danger is closing in for them all. Can they find the answers and survive?
I wanted to like this story and from Ethan's side, I did like the story and the way he resisted the mate pull but was totally focused on protecting her no matter how he felt. But I really disliked Tansey who was just far too feisty and assertive to the point that I just wanted to strangle her in the end. All the bad things that happened to her were generally because she was so focused on what she wanted and what she had assumed that she ignored common sense and good advice. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Quentin Black: The Vampire King (Quentin Black Mystery Series #4-6) by J.C. Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A great value boxset containing:
BLACK IS BACK (Quentin Black Mystery #4) - 5*
Quentin Black and Miri Fox are thrown into the middle of a murder case when the victim is found beheaded and tied to a pier (and the man was previously Miri's client). Detectives have tracked the killer (known as The Templar) from LA to San Francisco. He doesn't stop killing in his new location hence the fact that the police department drags Miri and Black out of his apartment to investigate it (they were there as they were going through a Seer mate bonding and by being in the public too soon it affects everyone.
There was a huge amount of drama, danger and action in this story. I loved the way events unfolded and developed as the story unfolded. Everything was well written and easy to understand and feel as it developed. I loved the way there seemed to be plenty of miscommunication due to their cultural differences and felt that was quite understandable considering that Miri was not raised as a Seer. I can't wait for the next story to come along now.
BLACK AND BLUE (Quentin Black Mystery #5) - 5*
Miri and Quentin are only recently mated and trying to get used to the bond which is exacerbated because she doesn't necessarily understand all the implications of what happens during the establishment of it. Quentin takes a consulting job against Miri's judgement as a way of getting back to work after a recent injury. Unfortunately, it does not go to plan and Quentin is kidnapped and given a task to do before he gets his freedom. As part of his kidnapping, he has his abilities blocked so cannot feel or communicate with Miri. This means they both get the side effects of an establishing mating bond and all that entails. Miri does everything she can to find Black and work out the mystery of who has him.
I found the style of this book very enjoyable. The characters were very real and believable and the story addictive - I was certainly seeing the story and characters in my mind as I was reading it (a bit like watching a film). I found myself reading faster as I got further through the book as I NEEDED to know what happened next. Definitely recommended and worth reading.
Black Blood (Quentin Black Mystery #5.5) - 5*
Quentin Black was kidnapped by vampires and even though he is home he has not been the same, which his wife Miriam Fox (Miri) finds difficult. He has not really told her everything that went on yet but he's having bad dreams and she feels powerless to help him unless he tells her more. All she knows is that he wants to rescue some friends he made while in captivity and kill all vampires, however, life has more complications for them to sort out before they can get to do either of those two things.
Well written, easy to read and understand. Great side story to the Quentin Black series, Lots of descriptions of the emotions involved for both Miri and Black which were easy to feel and understand.
BLACK OF MOOD (Quentin Black Mystery #6) - 5*
In this story, Black and Miri are in New York because Black is determined to find Brick after the events of the previous book (and he feels it would be better to do it there) Much to Miri's dismay he appears to not be above doing anything and everything in order to succeed in this "vendetta" against Brick. Miri on the other hand is struggling with being in New York with all the publicity and celebrity that involves, plus the changes she sees in Black as everything gets very secretive and confusing. Then there are some dreadful terrorist attacks that implicate Black as the organiser - can their relationship survive all of this drama and uncertainty?
OMG - this was a very intense story that had me riveted. I could not put it down and found myself reading faster and faster as the story went on as I absolutely HAD to know what happened next. It moved from one situation to the next in a seamless manner as the story quickly developed. As always, it was very well written and I could definitely feel all the emotions that the characters were going through - even when they were very intense. I loved the dramatic ending and I give no apologies for ignoring everything else while I was reading it. I recommend red wine or chocolate as a treat when you finish this as you'll need to come down from the intensity. If I could give it a higher rating than 5 I definitely would!

Review: Crimson Moon Hideaway: Dragon Dreaming by Julia Mills 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Dragon Guardsman and member of the Dragon Intelligence Agency, Special Agent Donovan Cross has been waiting for two hundred years to meet his mate Lottie who is one of the legendary Dalgaard Sleipnir Shifters. He has now discovered that a crazy sorceress murdered his mate's mother and is determined to relieve his mate of all of her blood using the power of the Goddess Rhiannon. Van is not going to give in on Lottie, but he knows it is going to take a lot of grovelling, begging and the help of his Dragon King in order to save his mate and make sure that she lives happily ever after. Can they all get the happily ever after they deserve?
This was a combination of a mystery with some supernatural, witch, dragon and goddess powers mixed into the usual fiery meeting between a dragon guard and his mate. It was set in the Crimson Moon Hideaway and involved the co-owners valkyrie Jianna as well as wizard Merlin. Well written, easy to read and understand it was a great light read that transports you off to the resort as well as other locations. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Quentin Black: Psychic Detective (Quentin Black Mystery Series #1-3) by J.C. Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A great value boxset and a comprehensive start to the Quentin Black series.
#1 BLACK IN WHITE (Quentin Black Mystery #1) - 5*
Miri Fox is a psychologist who also works as an on/off profiler for the police. They believe they have caught the "Wedding Killer" but when she checks him out Quentin Black claims to be hunting the killer too. He is nothing like Miri expects and she becomes determined to work out what his secrets are. However Black confronts Miri about her "insight" into people and she gets pulled even further into the game to catch the killer and also as a result into Black's world. Can Miri cope with the doubts and fascination with Black as well as handling the views from her best friend (who is a homicide cop) and her own boyfriend who works in intelligence.
WOW - loved this story. The story was intense and the building fascination between Miri and Black was quite lovely at times The relationship between Miri and her boyfriend seemed as if it wasn't anything special and I think when she meets Black no one else had a look in. There was lots of action, twists and turns in the story that kept me gripped and reading faster as I got further into the story and became more hooked. I can't wait to see how this develops in the next book of the series.
There was a sight crossover with the Bridge and Sword World series of books from the same author as they both feature seers.
#2 BLACK AS NIGHT (Quentin Black Mystery #2) - 5*
Miri Fox is a Forensic Psychologist and suddenly finds herself on a plane getting her boss Quentin Black (a psychic detective) out of jail in Bangkok. When she gets there he is working undercover in a gang f local criminals trying to discover who is killing street children and then burning their bodies in a ritual inside a Buddhist shrine. However Black isn't the only one interested in the crimes as it comes to the attention of local sex traffickers and a Russian crime syndicate who don't like this interference.
Miri arriving and helping brings her to the attention of the wrong people and she is suddenly the one being hunted.
Wow - this is intense and full of drama, action, danger and raw emotion. I definitely found myself reading this quicker and quicker as I got more into the story and Miri was in more and more danger. Black was his usual self - dark, moody and very irresistible. Well written and very easy to get lost in the sights, sounds and emotions involved in the story.
** Please note there is a brutal rape scene in this story and so you might choose not to read it because of that.
#3 Black Christmas (Quentin Black Mystery #2.5) - 5*
Miri Fox returns to San Franciso after the events in Thailand and then he disappears with no explanation, no warning and without telling her when he'll return. So she refuses to answer his calls and Black becomes desperate. Can he get her trust back after leaving her at precisely the time she needed him the most?
I'm sure all relationships contain moments like this and certainly Black has a whole lot of humble ie to eat before he is going to be able to have the kind of relationship with Miri that he wants. Well written and easy to read and understand. Quite emotional in the end experiencing the break and then mending of their relationship. Contains some sexual content.
#4 BLACK ON BLACK (Quentin Black Mystery #3) - 5*
Psychic detective Quentin Black disappears leaving his partner and forensic psychologist Miri Fox alone in San Francisco as soon as they return from Bangkok. He gave no explanation and gave no clues as to what he is doing, just leaving her the equivalent of breadcrumbs and cryptic hints. Miri is able to feel him more and more every day both when she is awake and when she is asleep dreaming to the point that her life starts to spin out of control as she senses what Black is doing is starting to be out of his control. She can sense he is in danger, but he won't admit it and no one will listen to her when she tries to get help from his staff. She can sense this new job of his is becoming more like a gauntlet and a test proving his loyalty of both his race and the mysterious Lucky Lucifer who controls a seer cult in Europe. So Miri realises she has to save Black even if she has to cross some cultural lines changing her life forever.
Oh wow - this book was all action, drama, danger and one hell of a reveal of information at the end that was impossible to predict. Lots of references to events in the previous books and some cross over to the Bridge and Sword World books which you might pick up easier now the final book in that series has been published. I loved how Miri was the strong one for much of this and she was the one knowing what she wanted and was going out to make sure she got it. Well written and very enjoyable. I have to confess I was unable to stop reading this and might have stayed up very late because I couldn't bear to not know what happened next.
#5 Black Supper (Quentin Black Mystery #3.5) - 5*
Quentin Black and Miri Fox finally get a chance to consummate their relationship after being separated for months while Black was in Paris. Little does Miri know, being new to the whole "seer" thing, this means a few weeks of losing herself in a sex-induced haze, barely able to function like a normal person, or really relate to anyone apart from Black himself. In the midst of their sex-fog madness, Black and Miri somehow decide going out to dinner is a good idea. It's not. Not really. Being in public right then isn't exactly something they can pull off... although the food is great when they remember to eat it.
I loved this story and I actually found it comical to read some of the thoughts and feeling that they were having especially the ridiculous situation of trying to dine out in public. Well written and easy to read/understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Filthy Beast by Liza Street 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Cougar shifter Lena has the one goal in her life - to stay clear of Shaw the vicious alpha of her pack and so if she is sent to where misbehaving shifters are sent (the junkyard) then she is fine with that. Grizzly shifter Carter has let his internal rage have control after his brother died and as he has refused to change he is sent to the junkyard. When Carter meets Lena his protective instincts kick in, especially when others in the junkyard are intent on harming her. He is going to have to be gentle to prove his love... but he will need to be violent to save her.
I really enjoyed this story which was set in an area where pack rejects are banished to. I loved the way that trust and relationships built differently in there due to the place that they had found themselves and how loyal Lena could be to her friends. I did find the mate thing a little inconsistent as they did not bite each other and so I assume that they have admitted their love for each other and that is enough. I really hope the other guys who were her friends find their mates too. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Daxon's Hostage by Michele Mills 3 of 5 stars
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Alien bounty hunter Daxon of Seven is in a new job as he had been kicked out of the Illibrium mines and so was trying to get through his first day. He feels he should be a great fit for the job as he is large and has mighty fists. After starting the ship and leaving the dock he finds a stowaway in his quarters sleeping in his bunk while there is a rich idiot screaming down the holovid that she is his bride and he wants her to be returned immediately. Whilst he ought to get her back as the guy probably has powerful friends he can as soon as he breathes in her scent her realises that she is actually his mate and he cannot give her to anyone. Can he keep on to her?
This was a strange story that had a reasonable plot and plenty of opportunities for drama and excitement but didn't quite get me completely involved in the story. It was reasonably well written and easy and clear to understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: False Augury by Eva Chase 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Cressida Warbury was fighting to prove herself, but it appears that she has been duped and betrayed by Emric. So how are she and Noah going to get out of the mess that they are trapped in? So when Emric shows up and offers them a way out she feels that they have no other choice left but to take it. They have a long journey ahead of them full of danger which means that they will have to all trust each other as they will be pushed to their limits with no guarantee of success. Can they make it out alive?
This was definitely a lesson in trust and the different levels of trust that can exist between people. I loved the chemistry between the three of them and how it ebbed and waned depending on what was happening and who was in the dominant position. I liked the way that Emric tried to do everything he could to establish trust with them again and the lengths that he was prepared to go to in order to achieve that - I had actually started to feel sorry for him at times. Lots of drama, danger, compromises, emotions and joy in parts of this story. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.

FEATURED FREE BOOK - Filthy Beast by Liza Street
#wolfpackreads
He hooked two fingers into her belt loop and dragged her closer. “How about you use that tongue for something good and kiss me?”
“Fuck you.”
“Anytime, kitty cat.”
The look she gave him was pure revulsion, but he could scent her desire in the air. She might not like him right now, but she wanted him.
He could work with that.
“You think I’m the same as the other guys here?” he asked. “A violent fighter, ready to kick the shit out of anything that moves?”
“I know you are. I saw you in the ring,” she said, her blue eyes revealing some of the hurt she felt.
“That wasn’t me, kitty cat. That was the beast inside, trying to protect you.”
“I don’t need protecting.”
He laughed and held up his forearm. The scratches she’d left there while in her cougar form still stung even though they were already starting to heal. “I know that, now.”
“Sorry I hurt you,” she said, looking down.
“Sorry I dragged you away from your fight. Now come here.” He kept his fingers in her belt loop and wrapped his other arm around her waist. Her skin was so warm, he felt it through her shirt. “I want that kiss.”

Werewolf Essex Baker is the last person in his family line after his family was murdered when he was a child. Currently protected in North America, he has worked his way up to the pack Beta when witch Haven Carson is brought into their pack for protection from the same forces that killed his family. When he meets her the need to keep her safe overpowers him and he is determined to do whatever he has to do to keep her safe because she is also his mate. When Haven is targetted she asks her estranged step-father for help and he sends her to a little town in Tennessee to where Essex is. Being around him calls to something that is buried inside her which both scares and intrigues her. can Haven find a HEA or will the people who are after her take everything - even her life?
I really enjoyed this story which had some great details and mystery around the organisation that are targeting the supernaturals as well as the organisation who were committed to saving them. I liked how their relationship developed and how Essex did everything he could to give Haven the space she needed to get used to what was a new version of normal life. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Fierce Mates Firsts by Liza Street 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A great value collection of four books that are the first in a collection of shifter series that are related but not around the same location. Separate book reviews are listed here:
#1 Fierce Wanderer - 3*
Hera Watterson is fleeing from her small hometown into the Sierras in order to get hold of the evidence she is taking to Reno. The problem is, fleeing is not easy when it involves her ex-fiance who is a drug dealer - and more importantly the chief of police. When her car's radiator overheats a guy with strange eyes stops to help her and that causes her to overheat too! Mountain lion shifter Blake Fournier is heading back to his family's ranch for a couple of days when he finds a gorgeous woman at the side of the road with car trouble. He is intrigued as to why she is on the run - especially when his lion only wants to run straight to her heart. Can they escape and can she get the evidence where it is needed?
This was a dramatic story where they had to get to know each other rapidly as well as escaping the evil ex-fiance and his allies. I liked the way that Blake was able to finally ensure that she was free and that they were able to work out that they were destined to stay together. Well written and easy to read and understand. I found it was a nice story but a little brief in the decision that Hera made about their future. Contains explicit sexual content.
#2 Savage Yearning -4*
Laura Vidal is a mountain lion shifter and has two choices - leave the territory to find a mate or become a guardian of the pride. As she loves the area and doesn't want to leave her home she resolves to become a guardian - even if the training is rigorous and bruising - at least it keeps her busy so she stops thinking about and seeing Dristan as he rocked her world during a one-night stand some years ago and she just cannot forget him. Shifter Dristan Rhees cannot get over nor forget the girl who stole his heart after a passionate one-night stand. Although she appears to not give him the time of day, when vampires invade their territory there are forced to work together which means they have to confront the desire that is still there and consumes them.
I really enjoyed this novella which had all of the necessary ingredients of shifters, danger, unstoppable love and lots of passion. Well written and easy to read and understand it was a fun read. Contains some explicit sexual content.
#3 Wild Homecoming - 4*
Summer Grieb is enjoying being single after her ex stole her savings, credit information and is now leaving her to cope with debt collectors. She does, however, get on well with her online friend Jackson and they swap messages nearly every day. She feels he is safe because he is always on the road and so they are never likely to ever meet for real. Mountain lion shifter Jackson Jaynes is willing to risk everything in order to return to the Dark Pines territory and meet the woman who sends him all the funny messages. But when his return sparks a new wave of violence, he'll have to fight it out or leave home again in order to keep Summer safe.
I liked this story which had a lot of danger and drama in places mixed with some really sweet moments between Summer and Jackson. I loved the way that Jackson was able to make sure that Summer was safe and that he was able to turn around a situation so that adversary became someone that had the potential for friendship. I thought the development of the relationship between Summer and Jackson was quite sweet and that it was suitably slow even if it moved fast as soon as they met in person. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.
#4 Ruthless Misfit - 4*
Erena is a fox shifter and having made a bad decision about trusting a man she is back at the Rock Creek Clan. Her past mistakes appear to have been forgiven but her position feels tenuous, which is made worse when a sexy misfit arrives who gets under her skin. Mountain lion shifter Matt returns home to the Rock Creek Clan with a huge secret but he then meets the woman of his dreams even though Erena seems to have a chip on her shoulder giving him a dilemma - how does he prove himself to a woman with trust issues? He really has to figure something out, because, between smooth-talking and ulterior motives, he’s in danger of losing his mate before he ever gets a chance with her. Can he sort everything out and end up with Erena at the end?
This was a lovely story that had some nice twists with Matt's unique ability for lying as well as her trust issues it was always going to be a rocky ride on the path of true love. I enjoyed the camaraderie or the pack members and how there were some misunderstandings on all sorts of things that weren't between Erena and Matt too. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Dashing Through the Stars by Erin Tate by Celia Kyle 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Tave fa V'yl-Zeret is the Prince of the Ujal and will do anything to make his mate happy even if that is creating a human holiday that he doesn't understand (How could a single person really circle the globe and deliver toys to every child?). However, this year the concern is not whether he has bought enough toys for his own child but the alien spaceship that has just entered the Earth's orbit. There is an intense debate as to if they are friend or foe. Either way on Earth there is a humbug somewhere who is willing to go to any length to stop any peace talks between the three races - including kidnapping Ujal royalty and assassination. Can they sort all these problems out, not have war break out and have the Christmas that the young are all looking forward to?
This was a nice short story that encompassed the Christmas spirit as races came together in order to beat those who would destroy peace and cooperation between them all. I loved the way that we were introduced to the Preor and this then makes sense and introduces the start of a whole new series based on the Preor race and how they find their own mates among the population of Earth. Well written, easy to read and understand. Contains just a little explicit sexual content.

Review: The White Death by J.C. Andrijeski by J.C. Andrijeski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
NYPD homicide vampire detective Nick Tanaka will do anything to keep his mate Wynter James safe and that would include selling his soul to his sire Brick and his dark underground group of vampires called the White Death. Especially when Dimitry Yi (the anti-vampire extremist) who has been missing for weeks (but is actually imprisoned) together with his followers are threatening her. Riots are starting to break out thanks to Yi's followers in vampire neighbourhoods and bombs are going off in buildings there. It seems that they want their leader back and are not going to stop unless they get him back. Now they are also targeting Nick partially due to his fame as a cage fighter but more likely due to his role as a Midnight. So he decides he needs to look to his own kind for help even if that means he is indebted to his sire and his own agenda.
OMG - if I could give this 10 stars I would. My mind is totally blown and so buckle up and prepare for a fast-paced ride full of bombshells and a-ha moments. So much is finally clear and yet so much is still unresolved. It was well written and very easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content but not much. I just can't wait to find out what happens next.

Review: Diesel by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
After a very short turnaround, Diesel finds himself travelling to China to rescue a kidnapped scientist called Eva and as part of that he observes the depths of human depravity. He might have done with kind of work for a decade, but this time he is rescuing someone he finds interesting. Eva Langston was kidnapped while walking across the street and finds herself locked in a lab half a world away with a couple of other scientists who fill her in that there is no chance of escape. However, she refuses to give up hope and keeps her belief that someone will come for her, although when that happens it is not smooth nor is it easy. She is glad to be free but soon realises that freedom is a long way off as one by one the rest of the scientists are picked off until she is the only one left - can she get home in one piece and will she have the chance to explore what is possible between herself and Diesel? Contains some sexual content at the end of the story.
I loved this story which had a great mixture of drama, danger, twists and turns in it. I loved the way that they would start to feel that the worst was over and then something else would happen. I also loved the way that the trust and relationship between Diesel and Eva had to quickly develop even though it was hard to establish as her scientist's brain needed proof before she could believe certain things. I loved the way that it suddenly had a conclusion and who was behind all of the drama they were experiencing as well as the way they worked out that there was something tracking them across the world. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content near the end of the story.

Review: Tormentor Mine by Anna Zaires 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Russian Peter Sokolov's wife and child were killed and he has a list of those responsible that he is working through. As part of working through the list of people, he encounters Sara while torturing her for the location of her husband. While doing that he feels a connection to her and so decides that he wants (and will have) her. This is a dark romance as we experience the key moment in Peter's life that then drew him to meeting and subsequently tormenting Sara.
Wow - this is a very dark story that had me riveted to it from the start to the finish. I was hooked and was definitely reading faster and faster and I needed to know what was going to happen next. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Awakening Fate by Lia Davis 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Noelle Griffen suffers from extreme anxiety and nightmares of a werewolf after her parents were killed when she was a child. She is still working through it with a therapist and so is encouraged to accept a mysterious invitation that arrives from the Crimson Moon Hideaway resort. Wolf shifter Wyatt Nelson is ordered by his pack Alpha to go and rest/recuperate after losing his leg and possibly losing his position in the pack. When his path crosses with his mate who is Noelle who is terrified of wolves he knows he needs to take things slowly and also do everything he needs to do in order to protect her whilst not letting her walk away from him. Can they find a way to be together and have the HEA that they both desperately deserve?
I really liked this story which had the nice contrast of a woman terrified of werewolves who is the mate of a werewolf who is damaged and therefore not whole. I loved the way that Wyatt did everything he could do to take things slow and easy for her even though that was not what his instincts were screaming at him to do. A sweet story with lots of danger and drama as well as some romance. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Scorned Princess: A Gritty Enemies to Lovers Gang Romanceby Eva Chance by Harlow King 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Mercy thought she was going from being under her father's control to marrying a man in a business arrangement who she would eventually come to love which forming a partnership and forging the alliance between his gang and her father's. However, it turned out that Colt her fiance had other plans and so the night before the wedding he and his men slaughtered her entire family and Mercy only just managed to escape. With a thirst for vengeance, she goes to the Noble clan and meets Wylder Noble and his men Gideon, Kaige and Rowan who rule Paradise Bend but in order to have their help, Mercy will have to prove that she is not a pampered princess and is strong enough.
Wow - this was full of danger and drama from the start to the end. I loved Mercy and how strong and determined she was. She really was able to cope with the man's world of the gang and all of the mess involved in it. There was a lot of sizzle between her and the men in the Noble gang and I can't wait to read more of the series to find out what actually develops between them. Well written, easy to read and understand. I definitely found myself reading faster and faster as I just HAD to know what happens next. Contains some sexual content. Ends on a cliffhanger and now I really do need to know what happens next.

Review: Fall Into Darkness by Valerie Twombly 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Hunter and angel Eli lives by his own rules even when he is called before the Tribunal Seven for a perceived infraction - in this case, they believe he has lost his humanity and has sentenced him to earth with just the one mission - to find some compassion or be condemned to Hell. Human Ashley considers herself a freak as whenever she glances into a person's eyes she foresees their death. Desperate for some solitude she goes far from her family trying to work out what to do next. When she is attacked a handsome stranger comes to save her and all she can think of is his steel-blue eyes and how beautiful they are. It seems that fate has brought them together but desire could bond them for eternity.
I really enjoyed this book and was addicted to it from the start to the finish. There were a lot of revelations for them both as part of this story and whilst I loved what happened near the end of this book I was heartbroken at the ending. I really hope things improve in the next book in the series for them. Well written, very enjoyable and easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Wolf Moon by C.D. Gorri 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Schoolgirl Grazi Kelly is a sophomore in high school and lives in the suburbs of New Jersey helping her grandmother with chores as well as being bullied by her cousin who she lives with (and also attends a catholic school with). Then her life takes a frightening turn when the night of the full moon arrives, bodies start piling up. Grazi then learns that demons, vampires and witches exist. She also learns that werewolves exist and that she is one herself. At school, she is torn between human and soccer team star Sebastian and the exchange werewolf sent from Ireland to help train her Ronan. Can she work out the identity of the mysterious attacker and more about what she is before more people die?
I really enjoyed this story which was a nice twist on a standard werewolf story. I enjoyed the way she found out what she was and her feelings and doubts as she thought about who could be responsible. The bullying from her bitchy cousin was fun at times (although I think if I was there I would have to eventually slap her lol). I loved the way that the identity of the mystery attacker was worked out and confronted and it set the scene well for subsequent books where Grazi can grow both as a person and a werewolf. Well written, easy to read and understand.

Review: Love's Stage by Jennifer Wedmore 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Siren Rina Cassanova works as a singer with the house band in the Cave bar at the paranormal friendly Crimson Moon Hideaway. She is very careful and very paranoid considering what she is but makes sure that she retreats and becomes a recluse. Wolf shifter Ren Michaels is a singer and is tired from constant touring, fans and other demands on his time. So when he finds himself stranded at the Crimson Moon Hideaway he uses it as an opportunity to relax for a short while. He is totally surprised to find his entire purpose in life can be found there. Rina didn’t want a rockstar coming in and taking her place, but when the fear of singing takes her to a dark place only Ren can step in and save the day. When it is time for him to continue on his world tour can she say goodbye to him or will he be able to give it all up and stay with her singing at the bar?
This was a sweet story up until the ending which was a little abrupt and missed so many details I would have liked to know about the couple and what their joint future was likely to be. I liked the descriptions of Rina and her issues as well as those of Ren, I just found the ending of the story a little mixed up. Easy to read, this was a quick read that will transport you to the magical world of the Crimson Moon Hideaway which sounds just wonderful to stay in. Contains some sexual content.

FEATURED SALE BOOK - Savage Redemption by Liza Street
#wolfpackreads
When he pulled into his driveway, he was surprised to see a car already sitting there.
Ben hated surprises.
A familiar woman leaned against the door of the little sedan. Sleeves of tattoos going up each arm. A nose piercing. She eyed him as he drove up and parked.
As he got out of his truck and walked over to her, he realized where he'd seen her before. It was the blond woman he’d seen coming out of Pawndemonium yesterday. Still attractive, still looking tired as hell, like she hadn't been taking care of herself. She carried a sweet scent that he vaguely recognized, but couldn't quite place.
His first impulse was to ask her what the fuck she was doing here, but then he remembered he was trying to be nicer. "Can I help you with something?" he asked.
"Yeah." She stood up straight and unfolded her inked-up arms. "I need to talk to Chase."
There was that sneaky fucker grief, again. This time it didn't whap him on the head, it kicked him straight in the gut.
"You can't," he said. "Sorry."

Review: Eton's Escape by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Eton travels to Switzerland to chase down the next part of the puzzle of who is threatening Bullard's organisation and downed their plane mid-journey and meets Garret there who is barely recovered but raring to go. The intel leads them to a small village and on the way there Eton comes across a woman who is in some distress on the side of the road and feels compelled to offer help. Sammy lives a quiet life working with and helping her ageing architect father, she is surprised that she was offered help for a flat tyre. So when she needs help she willing to go to Eton when she needs a little help. However, she then finds that he is the reason that she is in trouble however his troubles are much bigger. Can they both get out of this nightmare and get to somewhere safe and sound before it is too late?
This was definitely a rollercoaster of a story with lots of drama, danger, twists and turns as Eton, Garrett and Sammy all had to roll with the punches and take leaps of faith at times as they got further and further into the mysteries of who and why was Bullard and the team being targetted. I loved the way that the relationship between Eton and Sammy developed and how she was a woman with her own mind and was not necessarily going to do what she was told. Well written, easy to understand and read. Contains a little sexual content at the end of the story.
