Meet Giana

Giana Darling is a USA Today and Top 40 Amazon best selling Canadian romance writer who specializes in the taboo and angsty side of love and romance. She currently lives in beautiful British Columbia where she spends time riding on the back of her man's bike, baking pies, and reading snuggled up with her cat, Persephone, and Golden Retriever puppy, Romeo. Human healer Serafina had a wounded alien king called Keilon who turns up at her door with his two small children. Even though his people have oppressed humans for centuries her compassion (and maybe fate) insists that she help him. The children have grown on her and they both look at each other as if they desperately want to have a future together, but first, they need to change the present. Can they find a way to save the humans and keep their new family together?

This was a sweet story that showed that both sides were not perfect but that together they could find a solution and have the kind of HEA that they craved and deserved. I loved that children were important to both races and were central to their hopes and dreams. I was thrilled that they found their HEA although I do wonder if there is anything that could (or should) have been some about the vicious creatures that lived in the lake and could attack either race. Easy to read and understand. Contains a little mature content.

Ashlyn is a sophomore student at Harvard and often frequents the bar where Joseph works. Joseph has lusted after her from afar but after an incident, he feels he can no longer stay away from her and so he intervenes. From that point forward they cannot stay away from each other and start on a fairly intense relationship. But Joseph's past comes rushing in when his friend Marco finds him plus it appears that their enemies who about her too. And so after a sudden disappearance by Joseph Marco drugs and kidnaps Ashlyn saying that it is for her own protection. They say that they need to keep her there else their enemies will capture her and use her in the most horrible of ways but it takes time for her to learn to trust Joseph again. Can she accept her new normal and can they keep her safe?

Parts of me enjoyed this story and part of me did not. The enjoyable parts were the initial relationship between Ashlyn and Joseph as well as how it changed after she was kidnapped. I also liked Marco and feel that there are a lot of levels within his personality with all of his interests. I did find Ashlyn a little naive and sheltered which was at odds with her ability to live away from home at college without parental help. I did find the length of this book strange as it meant that it felt like an abrupt ending and a too obvious pull towards getting the next book in the series as it felt a little too short and abbreviated in places. Contains some mature content.

Captain Jo Behsue is a member of Central Command's leading military force, but she constantly has to battle for acceptance but her fellow Corpsmen and then she has the attention of a golden-eyes Klorakian mercenary igniting her body and while she is in his arms she realises that even she can find love. Lux is an officer in the Klorakian militia and fights to return the rightful monarch to his homeworld even though the planet actually scorns genetic shortcomings which suggests he will have a bleak future after the mission is complete. But the beautiful Captain Behsue gives him a glimpse of hope and so he fights for a life with Jo who only sees beauty in his defects.

I really enjoyed this story and felt invested in their relationship and wanted it to work out for them both. I loved the way that Jo was feisty and also very acidic in her communication with others which was just a result of the environment that she lived and worked in. I loved Lux who was strong and determined to get the woman who he had pretty much instantly fallen in love with. I was thrilled at the way that the story ended and their lives going forward. Contains some mature content.
