Gerald Grimes knew what it meant to live with a broken heart because his Daddy died and he worked hard to numb the pain with alcohol and then he left his world behind for a chance to rehabilitate himself. Once sober, he knew going back to the ranch would only send him spiralling again. A call to a friend of a friend gets him connected with a new job in the city. He planned to start his life over, one good decision at a time. He didn't expect his boss to be so tempting. Weston Joffry was numb after discovering his fiancée wasn't all that interested in monogamy after all, he found himself in need of help to restart his life. One call and he had his problem solved in no time at all.
He was ready to begin anew. No more romance, no more dating. It was the perfect plan. Except, when the man with the sad eyes and broken past came knocking, Weston wanted so much more than to hire him. He wanted forever.
OMG this was such a sad book to start with as you could feel Gerald's pain and heartbreak which was replaced by hope and the potential for happiness and joy. Just a little more pain to go through as they both dealt with Gerald's past and the associated pain (which again I could feel) before they found happiness together. This book was very emotional and there were a lot of big feelings so be prepared to cry and feel all of the pain and hurt that Gerald had to work through to move towards a future. I loved the involvement of some of the past characters from other series by the same author. Easy to read, feel and understand there are some big feelings and emotions in this story. This was an MM story with mature content with a BDSM-like D/s dynamic.
