Eris Vance is a salvager and is happy with her solitary life in the remote fringes of the Empire with her AI for company. When she finds an abandoned ship she thinks it could be the find of a lifetime for her, but upon boarding, it is not as empty as it appeared. Connor is the perfect soldier and was made that way and so waking up to the destruction of the world as he knew it disturbs him almost as much as the gorgeous woman who found him. The ship he was in called the Daedelus is filled with secrets and results of genetic experiments to breed the perfect soldier and now that she has awakened him the mystery of its destruction will hunt them both. Can their growing bond survive?
I enjoyed this story which had a great mixture of drama, passion, betrayal, triumph and ended with hope. It was great to get a bit more information on the star breed and understand a bit more about what happened to them and why. Just like a whodunit I definitely want to read the next story to unpick the details a bit more. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.
