Rhys had travelled to Cottage Grove, Oregon to check up on a war dog but did not expect to witness a house being shot up. the cops should have been able to investigate it, but instead, it just got worse. Taylor is an army vet with PTSD and a prosthetic just like Rhys (he is just further forward to her with his recovery) and she took on a war dog as they were needing comfort and support, but she now had to pass the interview to keep Tallahassee with Ryan. As things go from bad to worse it becomes apparent that the attacks are personal and close to home.
I enjoyed this story with the obvious support that Ryan was able to provide for Taylor as well as the support that Tallahassee was able to give her once she had learnt how to give some basic commands. I loved the connection between the dog, the similarities between Rhys and Taylor as well as the developing relationship between them. The mystery of who was targeting her was complicated but eventually, they did get somewhere. A great story which will pull at the heartstrings.
