Review: Finally You by Claudia Y. Burgoa 3 of 5 stars

Finally You (Luna Harbor, #1)

Finally You by Claudia Y. Burgoa
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Nydia Vega Knapp lives in Luna Harbor and when Mane Cantu came to visit his grandfather every summer they used to play together until they were teenagers and fell in love promising to be each others forever with him promising to come back for her. However, he broke all of those promises and so Nydia built a successful lavender farm and a shop and that’s now her priority. Mane became famous in a band. Then Mane’s grandfather falls ill and all the CantĂș family comes back to Luna Harbor for good. Mane is back on the scene and the band decides to open a bar next to her store and they see each other everywhere - she starts to remember how they were and then one kiss changes everything.

I enjoyed this story with the complicated history, the missing parts, and then the present. I did find the process for the past events to be remembered a little torturous and so was mightily relieved when everything started to make sense for them both. I loved the way that Mane was determined to take care of her before everything had been remembered which only intensified based on certain past events. I was thrilled with the way it ended and now wonder which one of the guys will be in the next story. Easy to read and understand even if it was a little more complicated than it needed to be. Contains some mature content.

Review: Loved You Once by Claudia Y. Burgoa 3 of 5 stars

Loved You Once (The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers, #1)

Loved You Once by Claudia Y. Burgoa
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Blaire is a strong independent woman who has survived cancer, a jungle and the plague but after a gap of 12 years since she heard from anyone in the Aldridge family she gets a voicemail that will change everything - all she needs to do is to live eighteen months in Baker’s Creek. Then she sees her first love - Doctor Hayes Benjamin Aldrige - who has still not forgiven her for walking out on him. She still loves him, he still wants her, and they have chemistry between them - the problem is neither wants to get hurt. Can they find a way forward to have a HEA?

I enjoyed this story but I didn't enjoy some of the long and drawn-out angst between them which was complicated by their history. It was clearly told and easy to understand but I did find it a bit more painful in places than it needed to be. I was able to pick up the thoughts and emotions of the characters and the author is clearly skilled at her craft. Contains some mature content and does have a HEA at the end.

Review: Until I Fall by Claudia Y. Burgoa 4 of 5 stars

Until I Fall

Until I Fall by Claudia Y. Burgoa
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Aspen had been engaged to a Navy SEAL and then before their wedding, he never came back to her. Now eleven years later she works brutal hours and drinks far too much while she dates a commitment-phobic guy. Just to try to numb herself. Her neighbour's enigmatic son invades her comfort zone. Anderson Hawkins has piercing green eyes, gives short answers and says he is a tattoo artist even though he keeps weird hours. The military ink on his arm tells a different story and his touch ignites a flame in her that she is afraid to examine too closely. Anderson retired from the Delta Force and now works for a high-intelligence security agency but being undercover is not the adrenaline rush it was. His Mum is ill and not long for the world and so he is determined to find a way to save her plus he has found that Aspen has gotten under his skin - can he find a way to convince her that it is safe to unlock her heart because he is ready to give her his own.

I really enjoyed this story which had its own fair share of sad moments as well as those of happiness. I loved the way that he was determined to get her to love him and that even with moments of doubt they were able to find ways to move forward. There were definite moments when I could have cried with them but there were also moments when I could feel joy for them too. Easy to read, feel and understand. Contains some mature content although most contents was all around emotions.
