Review: Crimson Moon Hideaway: Flame and Mist by Renee Hewett by Mandy Rosko 3 of 5 stars

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Flame and Mist

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Flame and Mist by Renee Hewett by Mandy Rosko
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Fire fairy Darlena Manino can't wait to attend the Deep Blue Sea Expo. at Crimson Moon Hideaway as she is fascinated by merfolk. No one should know what she is but a chance encounter with a merman demi-god called Alon exposes her secret leaving her barred from all events. In compensation, he takes her as his +1 to the events which they think is a great way for him to attract a mermaid wife. The two are a mystery and they can't resist the urge to learn more, but surely they can't have a future together?

Parts of this story were romantic and parts were a little strange. I enjoyed them learning about each other, I loved the ending which was very romantic, but some of the bits in the middle with her running off and avoiding him were a bit silly. I loved the ending on the beach and the way they could be together. Easy to read and understand.

Review: Crimson Moon Hideaway: Harpy's Escape by Renee Hewett 3 of 5 stars

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Harpy's Escape

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Harpy's Escape by Renee Hewett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A sad harpy and a falsely upbeat demon need to face what ails them before they can have a HEA. Ariella Ivie and Caine Ziehm are both trying to soothe their souls with a trip to the Crimson Moon Hideaway but neither realised it was the Beltane Festival and what kind of magic is involved in it. The question is can they shed the past baggage when they meet again after 7 years - maybe if Jianna and her team at the Crimson Moon Hideaway nudge them along.

I enjoyed this story with the two of them having so many false starts and the amount of work that the team had to put in for them both to really let go of the past and truly see what they knew already deep down - that they belonged together. Easy to read, understand and get swept away into the story and their lives. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Wolf on the High Sea by Renee Hewett 3 of 5 stars

Wolf on the High Sea (Paranormal Dating Agency World; Idlewyld Mates, #3)

Wolf on the High Sea by Renee Hewett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Bear shifter Gia Worth has been working in Idlewyld as a property caretaker while also saving to open a bed and breakfast someday. Her boss suddenly gives her a paid vacation on a cruise ship but she quickly realises it is not as it appears when she discovers it is organised by Gerri Wilder from the Paranormal Dating Agency. Wolf shifter Brett Cowans is three years after his divorce (from a non-mate) and has a pleasant life running a bakery with his brother and has no intention to go on a cruise, but his brother and Gerri plot against him to get him there. The moment Gia and Brett meet they know they are fated mates but they are in trouble as they realise that they have ties to warring criminal organisations. Then they discover one more obstacle.

I enjoyed this story with the complication of their past and present alignment as well as an ex-wife who thinks she can still interfere. I enjoyed their way of battling the illogical thoughts of one person with logic which just tied up the other person in ways that could not be denied. Easy to read and understand. I was definitely rooting for Gia and Brett!

Review: An Untamed Lynx by Renee Hewett 3 of 5 stars

An Untamed Lynx

An Untamed Lynx by Renee Hewett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Bear shifter Coleman Stride works as a guard for the Idlewyld mob boss and is very annoyed at his latest task as he is clearly not a babysitter. However, he soon realises that he actually has a lot in common with the bobcat kitten placed into his care and protection as they both lost their family to violence. With a renewed determination he resolves to teach him how to survive and defend himself. Lynx shifter and pediatric nurser Kat Baltrez has been focused on work and a career and has therefore not actually taken any holiday for years. So when Gerri Wilder asks her to help a child in need she feels she can't refuse which also fits in which her HR department's intention to force her to take some leave. Can Coleman and Kat work together in order to keep the scared bobcat kitten safe in a secluded cabin and can they cope with the fact that their time together might bring them together too?

This was a pleasant story that focused on the two aspects - the bobcat kitten and the relationship between Coleman and Kat. I enjoyed the way that they did their best to teach some control and bring some joy to the kitten and the way that they were able to find a way to compromise and work together. The jeopardy of the bad guys still wanting to kill the kitten was a nice factor to give them some danger. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Defending Her Honey Badger by Renee Hewett 3 of 5 stars

Defending Her Honey Badger (Federal Paranormal Unit / Disrupting Crinis Book 2)Defending Her Honey Badger by Renee Hewett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Octopus shifter Risa Neubauer works in the Federal Paranormal Unit (FPU) and after her partner met her mate and left she has been hiding with computers and not finding a place in the field. But when manager Cynthia Vega tasks her with infiltrating the Cult of Crinis, Risa can’t turn it down as she was among the team who’d discovered them. Badger shifter Theodore “Teddy” Ludwick loves being in the so-called Badass Badger Squad and so is not impressed at being put on a joint task force mission with Risa from the Aquaterrestrial Task Force, but things change when he realises that the petite blonde is actually his mate. Can they learn to work together and can Teddy learn to trust her enough to get Risa close enough to the cult leader?

I enjoyed this story which has a great mixture of fated mates, an evil cult and learning to trust each other. I loved the way that they had such a bad start between them but quickly had to get used to working together and trusting each other implicitly. I loved Risa who was such a cool shifter and the way that fate would put an octopus with a badger (which just seems crazy). Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: The Willow Rescue by Renee Hewett 3 of 5 stars

The Willow Rescue (Federal Paranormal Unit: Aquaterrestrial Task Force)The Willow Rescue by Renee Hewett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Zebra Moray shifter Willow Baldwin is a member of the Federal Paranormal Unit’s (FPU) Aquaterrestrial Task Force. Her next job sounds really boring just looking for missing fish but then she realises it is near the protective and secretive underwater domed city Ursanis in the Arctic. The Ursanis Prince Graham Auman is on a multi-year trip from his home on land to find his mate although he is resigned to the fact that no woman would give up the land to live underwater with him forever. Learning that there is trouble at home he takes that opportunity to return home although it appears that he has to check in with the FPU first as they want to send agents with him to help. At their first meeting, Willow and Graham know they are mates, but that takes a second seat to the mission. They have to stop a secretive cult from stealing the fish who are keeping an Old One asleep because if the ancient monster wakes, it could mean the end of the world. Can Graham get past his reservations and can they crack the case and stop the end of the world?

This was a great mystery story that had the added mates factor to make it much more interesting. I did find some aspects of Graham's denial a bit irritating and it seemed to take him far too long to realise with was real and could not be ignored. I loved sassy Willow and the fact that she was determined to do a good job and not let anyone hold her back - even from saving those that she loved.

Review: A Christmas Lynx by Renee Hewett 4 of 5 stars

A Christmas Lynx (Idlewyld Mates, #1)A Christmas Lynx by Renee Hewett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bear shifter Pryce Desalvo is the mob enforcer in town and he has sworn off love as the can't risk that kind of life on any partner as well as abandoning his position and putting his friends in danger. Lynx shifter Nila Havens has a deadly history but is a busy nurse who has pretty much resigned herself to never find love and so focusses on her cancer patients instead. Both have an invitation to Gerri Wilders famous Christmas Party. When they meet at the party they are determined to go their separate ways but Pryce will soon realise that if you meet your mate there is no turning back. He might hem, and she might haw, but when a world-famous paranormal matchmaker sticks you together, you might as well accept it!

This was a sweet PDA story where they both had the same idea, but as the description says, when Gerri matches you together and you meet your mate then there really is no point in fighting it. A really sweet story with its fair share of drama, danger and excitement with a surprising twist at the end to prove that they really were made for each other. Well written and easy to read.
