Review: Bourbon and Burlesque by Raquel Riley 4 of 5 stars

Bourbon and Burlesque

Bourbon and Burlesque by Raquel Riley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love and affection had been missing from Kelley Michaelson's life since he came out to his parents as a teen. Burlesque gave some of that back to him. When he takes the stage, the audience admires him, the music loves him, but burlesque isn’t the passion of a lover, a soul-deep connection his heart yearns to share with another man. When his boss’s father plays his hero from a stalker, he knows his search is over. His vow to keep him safe feels like so much more than that. Smart, confident, loyal and generous, tough as nails - he can face anything, except when it comes to Kelley. If he runs, he has a plan to catch him. Graham Carrick never thought he'd give himself another chance to be a fool in love, but when Kelley strutted into his life on patent leather stilettos and turned it upside down, he didn’t really give him a choice. Nothing has been the same since, including his heart. I don’t want life to go back to the way it was before, even if it could, but it doesn’t matter. The twenty-eight years that separate us are too many to bridge the gap, no matter how Graham thinks he makes him feel.

I loved this story with the two men who were living in the same house as Graham went into protective mode for Kelley until his stalker was captured. Kelley had a beautiful soul and I was amazed that Graham resisted the pull towards him as long as he did. Be aware that Kelley has more changes of clothes than anyone else you know. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.
