Grindstone's Edge: The Road to Rocktoberfest 2024

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Last year, Axel's band, Grindstone, hit the stage at Rocktoberfest, their big break at last. But in the middle of that triumph, his love life crashed into disaster. He'd been in love with Hugo Threadgold for years, but he was once his high school music teacher, so he figured he was off-limits. Then, in Black Rock, he came clean about his feelings, but his heart cracked when Hugo turned and walked away. He's not giving up, though. He's ready to lose his straight-guy image for him, if only he can make him believe. Ten years ago, Axel and his best friend, Ed, were Hugo's most promising students. He taught them everything he could about music, and watched them struggle to become the musicians they are today. But boys become men, and last October in Nevada, Axel told him he'd developed romantic feelings for him. He was rattled. He'd never let himself look at him that way. Now that he's put the idea in his head, he can't get him out of his mind. The man he's become is someone strong and talented, determined and attractive. Someone he could fall for. But isn't it his duty to keep things professional and walk away from the man who tempts him as no one else ever has?

This was a good story of love between a music teacher and his former student. I did find Hugo's hesitancy a bit irritating at times and the ending was a little strange as I thought they wouldn't be safe to live there. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
