Review: Hss! An Alien Warrior Romance by Zeta Star 4 of 5 stars

Hss! An Alien Warrior RomanceHss! An Alien Warrior Romance by Zeta Star
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jazz's life has not been great the last few weeks - first, her fiance jilted her and then she was abducted by aliens and sold to a gladiatorial arena where she gets to put her veterinary skills to work by stitching up the injured. Then a seven-foot-tall feline male is on her treatment mat and everything changes as he vows that he is going to take her off-planet with him. The problem is Hss never keeps his head down and pisses off everyone so there is a long list of enemies. Between the monsters, assassins and robots their exit window is rapidly decreasing. It starts to look a bit hopeless but tbh when he puts his arms around her she really doesn't want to escape him!

I enjoyed this story which was definitely full of danger, drama and excitement as they navigated all of the roadblocks on their escape. While they did that they developed a strong partnership where he tried to stay in control and she sometimes took notice and sometimes got distracted. I loved the way that he tried his best to ignore the attraction and concentrate on escape but in the end, had to give up. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Noah's Nemesis by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Noah's Nemesis (Heroes for Hire #26)Noah's Nemesis by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Noah heard Dianne's cry for help on Levi's phone and was already on his way to his car to go and aid her before anyone could stop him. He hated for any woman to be in distress and she had sounded completely devastated. After helping her once he remained determined to keep her safe and so became her guardian. Dianne was looking forward to the weekend seminar she was in town for and afterwards some time with her friend Ice at the compound. She wanted to run a business idea by Ice in order to put it into place locally. However, being attacked was certainly not part of the plan -meeting Noah was part of that plan either although she was both relieved and happy to have him as her babysitter. Someone has a grudge against Levi and sees Dianne as the perfect way to get back at him - can she and Noah work together to keep her alive while working out who is responsible?

I really enjoyed this story which seemed to bring to a close the storyline of one person who has been keen to punish Levi some something in the past while at the same time sorting out the love life of another member of the team. I loved the banter and relationship between Noah and Dianne which not giving an inch to each other. I think any relationship between them will be very successful as they are a perfect foil for each other. Easy to read and understand, it was a good mystery to solve while working out what was going to happen next. Contains just a tiny bit of sexual content at the end.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Review: Grr! by Zeta Star 3 of 5 stars

Grr!Grr! by Zeta Star
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Zoe was abducted by a giant alien lizard and she was then put into a cell next to a large furry alien called Grr with abs to die for and claws and fangs with just a force field between them. He's been beaten up badly and is chained so he cannot move and so sit there growling and looking pissed off. Then the force field dies and it's just the two of them trying to escape and facing all sorts of dangers where half the creatures that you meet try to eat you. Over time she discovers that he likes having his ears rubbed as well as other parts of his anatomy and so she begins to think her abduction might not have been such a bad thing. The question is whether they can avoid the lizard guys before they kill them.

I found this book a little confusing in some ways - the alien on the cover is not furry all over just some weird thing across his shoulders and there were no visible fangs. Apart from that, it was a nice story of an alien and a human helping each other to survive as well as escape and falling in love with each other. I loved that they both seemed to fight the inevitable but in the end, the closeness that they had to have in order to escape was the closeness between mates. Easy to read and understand as well as empathise with, I enjoyed this story. Contains some sexual content.

Review: You Can't Fight Lightning by Lisa Manifold 4 of 5 stars

You Can't Fight Lightning (Gods of Thunder MC)You Can't Fight Lightning by Lisa Manifold
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zeus is the God of Thunder and is used to being selfish and only thinking of himself and his wants and needs. He decides he needs some adventure in his life and so opens a map, picks somewhere randomly and takes his Fat Boy towards Bisbee in Arizona as he had heard it was a cool place for bikers. What he really didn't expect was meeting Roxy Kincaid. Roxy is perfectly happy tending the bar and minding her own business as she really doesn't have time for all the bikers. Then "Z" arrives looking like he could be Motorcycle Barbie’s husband complete with the permatan, amazing hair, and a smile to match and so she makes herself remember exactly why she is done with men - been there, done that, ended up with two headstones, so she is just done - end of story. Z has never been made to take no for an answer but none of his usual charms is working. In order to get success Z is going to have to use a source of love magic he never thought he would use - like ever.

I really enjoyed this story with Z's obsession with Roxy, his use of this "love magic" and how amazingly it worked to turn him into a well rounded and thoughtful person. It was fun to live through his transformation and how successful that was. It was also good to see that Roxy had her own mini transformation as she moved on from a long-held belief into looking forward to the future. Easy to read and understand. A pleasant read that made me smile. Contains just a little sexual content.

Review: Prowling their Mate by Tamsin Baker 4 of 5 stars

Prowling their Mate (Perfect Pairs, #1)Prowling their Mate by Tamsin Baker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

People say that Laura is too much - too smart, too big and too loud. Working as a veterinarian she is finally happy in her quiet life with her plus-sized body even if she hasn't dated anyone in ages. Besides, animals are far more worthy of her attention than humans! All that changes when two gorgeous brothers come along and the animal attraction between the three of them is instant. While finding Mr Right is not on her to-do list having a little fun sounds like a great idea. The twins are polar opposites - Tyler is gentle and intelligent, Brandon is strong and protective. As the guys worship her body they start to thaw her frozen heart but if falling in love with them wasn't scary enough she then discovers that they are both mountain lion shifters and they claim that she is their fated mate. While loving them is easier than breathing, their pasts might come to break them all apart. Can they find a love that works and stay together?

This was a sweet story that had plenty of doubts, crossed wires, interference and drama but at the end, they were all together to have their HEA. I loved that Laura was a strong woman with a responsible career but was still unsure of herself and her body which is common with many women in real life. Tyler was the perfect guy and very sensitive and thoughtful whereas Brandon was quite resistant at first until he realised how wonderful it actually was to be in a mate relationship. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit MMF sexual content.

Review: Vrehx by Elin Wyn 3 of 5 stars

Vrehx (Conquered World, #1)Vrehx by Elin Wyn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Jeneva is a human living in the jungles of Ankau with an assortment of giant spiders and walking trees although blissfully alone until the sky is ripped open and monsters came through. Now her world is under attack from one set of monsters where the only safe place for her is at the side of another monster called Vrehx. He has a lot of secrets and so although he seems very safe, she is not sure if she can totally trust him. Vrehx for so many years has lived for nothing other than the destruction of the Xathi hordes who burned his home and killed his family. So when a weapons test goes disastrously wrong and the battle spills onto an uncharted world with lethal native life he finds nothing more dangerous to him than the human woman who obsesses his own thoughts. When war rages around them, can they fight together, or will his burning need for her drive them apart?

I loved the start of this story and it all looked great until it suddenly changed tack and Jeneva became this woman determined to save humanity. I've struggled to understand that as she seemed to have hidden from it for so long and nothing had happened to deserve that level of devotion. I did however love the way that the relationship between Vrehx and Jeneva developed through the tales of his family and their use of empathy which seemed to be so intimate. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: The Alien's Escape by Ella Maven 4 of 5 stars

The Alien's Escape (Drixonian Warriors, #2)The Alien's Escape by Ella Maven
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Valerie woke up having been abducted on a spaceship shackled in a prison cell. Apparently, she is supposed to be a breeder for the blue coloured alien in the cell next to her. While Val wants to hate him, he has been taking beatings in order to protect her so she can't. Sex hates the food and the beatings, but at least the view improves since human Val turned up. The captors want them to mate so that they can take the baby, but there is no way he is going to allow that. While he is willing to take whatever he has to in order to make sure that Val is left alone, when they start to hurt her too he needs to find a way for them both to escape while taking out every captor. Then when they have escaped he will happily fill her with as many babies as she wants!

I enjoyed this story of how Val met Sax, what they endured in captivity and how the relationship between them developed. The way that they escaped was interesting and their pursuit was very dramatic. I loved Val with her sensitivity but in the end, that became real grit and determination. A very enjoyable story that had a HEA at the end. Contains some explicit sexual content.
