Review: Trust No Alpha by Wendy Rathbone 4 of 5 stars

Trust No Alpha (The Omega Misfits, #1)

Trust No Alpha by Wendy Rathbone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kris was an alpha and when he is reexamined and new information is revealed just before his eighteenth birthday he knows life as he knows it is over. Now he is kept a prisoner in a locked room in his wealthy father's mansion and is at the mercy of Alpha laws and Alpha domination. Everything gets worse for him when a littermate threatens him and his father starts to behave strangely towards him. Escape is his only hope even though he has no idea where he can go. Alpha Thorne is marked as dangerous and is living a secluded life alone and unloved still grieving for his mate whose death he feels responsible for. Then he discovers a dishevelled and desperate young man who acts like a runaway Omega but doesn't smell like one on his property. Thorne feels an immediate need to protect and bond with this boy and needs to work out what that is all about.

I enjoyed this story with the harsh father who provides necessary items but no love and affection and then wants to hide the anomaly that is Kris. Thorne was a tortured soul and I was so pleased to see the gentle but determined way that Kris handled him while asserting his authority. It was quite shocking to realise that Alphas had the law behind them and that Omegas had nothing and could not do anything apart from breed (often in what I think of as a brothel). Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content set in an omegaverse world.
