Omega Shay Nicholls lost everything including three babies before they were born. His alpha has abandoned him as a failure and when he had no hope of a future he can't even take the last step and end it all. Alpha lawyer Nick Carmichael has been trapped in a job he hates for too long. When he finds the broken and desperate omega he feels that life has given him a chance to be the mate he wants and eagerly steps up to care for the terrified man. Shay doesn’t trust alphas, even ones with gentle hands and a kind smile, but when tragedy strikes and Nick gets hurt, Shay realizes he’s been very wrong. Unfortunately, it might just be too late.
I enjoyed this story which was able to make me feel all of the emotions that Shay and Nick were going through in this rollercoaster of a story. I felt desperately sorry for Shay although at times he became quite annoying in his refusal to accept that Nick was trying to help him. Shay's old alpha was a nasty piece of work which was proven later in the story. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and set in the omegaverse with mpreg.
