My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Kade, a traumatised omega who’s spent years on the run, doubts any alpha could ever want him. When he meets his fated mate, Blake, he longs to believe in the bond but keeps his distance out of fear. Blake, however, is determined to show Kade that he’s safe, valued, and loved — and that he would never harm the omega fate chose for him.
I loved this story. Kade’s trauma, his failing health, and his deep distrust of alphas made his journey incredibly emotional, and it was easy to feel just how much he’d endured. Blake was the perfect balance to that — protective, patient, and determined to keep Kade safe without ever pushing too hard. The friendships and pack dynamics added so much richness, especially in contrast to the betrayals and political tensions surrounding them. I also really enjoyed that Kade and Blake’s relationship grew in a more traditional, human way through dating, giving Kade the space he needed to trust again. The book is full of big emotions and feelings as Kade slowly learns to believe in himself, in Blake, and in the possibility of a future shaped by love rather than fear. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with MPREG.
