When aliens invade Washington D.C., paramedic Blake Lewis is thrown into chaos, fighting to save lives in a city collapsing around him. He crosses paths with Gabriel Lennox, a hardened special‑forces operator he ends up rescuing. Forced to survive together through hostile streets, inhuman enemies, and a failing government, Blake and Gabriel try not to fall for each other in the middle of the apocalypse.
The connection between Blake and Gabriel is electric from the moment they collide in the middle of the invasion — a bond forged under fire that only grows stronger as the danger escalates. Even with the world falling apart around them, their pull toward each other feels undeniable. I loved the humour threaded through all the chaos, especially the sharp, fast banter that kept the tension from ever feeling too heavy. Blake’s ability to piece together how the aliens worked did stretch belief a little, but honestly, I didn’t mind — I was far too invested in the characters and their relationships to care. This story is intense, funny, emotional, and full of heart, and I’m absolutely looking forward to the final book in the duo. This was an MM story with mature content.
