Review: Release by Delta James 3 of 5 stars

Release

Release by Delta James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

During the day Mazie Bridges is the electronic surveillance expert for the Savoy, but at night she takes refuge in becoming her alter ego, Knight Fury. In a newly released online game, she has teamed up with the mysterious Holden Tremayne to defeat the malevolent protagonist of the game. They seem to be the perfect partners. After all, Holden only plays after the sun goes down. What happens when the online world tries to push through the Veil to perpetuate its evil in the real world? They say Holden's kind keeps the evil spirits at bay but what if I’m one of them.

I enjoyed this story although a person who worked at the Savoy hotel was the only real link to the rest of the series. I just didn't enjoy this story compared to the others. There were some emotions and feelings between the two main characters but I didn't feel them well enough. This was an MF story with mature content.

Review: Bound by Delta James 4 of 5 stars

Bound

Bound by Delta James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Corinne Adler, Night Concierge for the famed Savoy Hotel, knows just how wrong that legend is for each time Big Ben has struck thirteen, demons have tried to escape their prison in another realm. The responsibility of being Guardian of the Tower Clock has fallen to her, a duty which her family has served for almost two centuries. Eddy Chastain is the last of the reoccurring characters in the erotic romance novels written by Sage Matthews. He is a hacker extraordinaire and prefers to remain deep within the pages of Sage’s books. But there is something about the Night Concierge of the Savoy that haunts him -  a memory of sorts from a man whose creator never gave him much of a backstory. When the stars align to cause Big Ben to strike thirteen, Corinne knows she and the lions must defeat the demons and keep the city safe. But the veil has become strained and the demons more clever. Can Eddy come to Corinne’s aid and keep the forces of evil at bay?
~~~
I loved that Eddy finally came through the veil and had a chance at a HEA with the woman he had been watching for years. I loved the story with the lions who have always been majestic and fierce looking. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MF story with mature content.
Review: Dirty Discipline -Volume 1 by Maren Smith by Delta James by Laylah Roberts 3 of 5 stars
Dirty Discipline -Volume 1 (Dirty Discipline Duet)
Dirty Discipline -Volume 1 by Maren Smith by Delta James by Laylah Roberts
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A reasonable collection of stories which provide good value compared to purchasing them separately. My review is based on these books:
Treasured Discipline - Delta James writing as Willa Bradley
I have never read one of Willa Bradley's stories, but I love Delta James. This was a historical/contemporary crossover with pirates, treasure hunters and a couple of disciplining Doms. I enjoyed it but It didn't sweep me away.
A Cowboy to Call Her Own - Laylah Roberts
I enjoyed this story with the introduction of a woman who was running away from an abusive ex to "domestic discipline" aka BSDM-like DDLG. I enjoyed the story and it was wonderful to see the way that he worshipped her even if she had to have her behaviour corrected sometimes.
Review: Contract by Delta James 4 of 5 stars
Contract (Masters of the Savoy, #4)
Contract by Delta James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Irish witch Saoirse Madigan has seen a little girl in Victorian-era clothing in her vision since she was a child and her investigation as to who she is has led her to the Savoy hotel to seek out some answers. Felix Spenser, the Head Concierge at The Savoy, was one of the men who appeared out of nowhere one day determined to grab life and look for love and he knows she is his soul mate from the first time he met Saoirse. He is convinced that her investigation into the little girl could be dangerous. When Saoirse begins to question those who have kept the secret for more than a century, she unknowingly sets off a course of events that will prove Felix right.
I really like this story which finally concluded the dance that Saoirse and Felix made around each other which culminated in fireworks. I loved the mystery and the fact that the whole team of four couples had to work together to investigate and resolve the entire situation. Saoirse was sassy and passionate and when she made a decision was pretty swift in implementing that. Felix was his usual powerful and protective self who did everything he could in order to compromise and protect his love. Easy to read and understand. This book contains mature content of a BDSM D/s nature.
Review: Submission by Delta James 4 of 5 stars
Submission (Masters of the Savoy, #3)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Anne Hastings was denied her happily ever after and has watched through the veil for almost five centuries waiting to pierce it to get one for herself. Gabriel Watson suspects that Anne is in trouble when he sees her enter the Savoy with Rachel's friend Saoirse and she checks in with no luggage plus she is meeting with an infamous forger. His friends Roark and Holmes have settled down with two beautiful women and Gabe figures whatever they are up to with Anne can't be good. Anne is on the run from two men who will do whatever it takes to drag Anne back - the Warder of the Veil and the Angel of Death. Gabe has to solve the mystery that surrounds Anne before she is pulled back to eternal darkness but time is running out.
I loved this story with the identity of Anne, the attempts to keep it a secret, retrieve things for her and then the great reveal with Gabe which didn't go well initially. I loved the emotions and introspection of the characters which were easy to feel and empathise with. I loved the attention to detail that author paid to the differences in language over time. This story contains mature content some of which were of a BDSM-like nature of the D/s variety.
Review: Advance by Delta James 4 of 5 stars
Advance (Masters of the Savoy, #1)
Advance by Delta James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Author Sage Matthews writes steamy romance novels and her bestselling novel is about Roark Samuels. However, when she is on the brink of death, he crosses the veil and saves her from the brink of death. Can they explore their deepest desires and create their own happily ever after?
I enjoyed this story which had a great concept of characters who can cross the veil and get life for real with a chance for real love too. I loved the way that Roark was watching her and trying to come over properly until in her time of need he managed it for keeps. The story was all centred around a threat to Sage which we had to work through until we all solved the crime. I feel that Sage was very naive but she did get the truth eventually with the tanks of Roark. Easy to read and understand. Contains mature content of a BDSM nature.
Review: Negotiation by Delta James 4 of 5 stars
Negotiation (Masters of the Savoy, #2)
Negotiation by Delta James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Michael Holmes is a respected DSI at Scotland Yard who has a little bit of celebrity due to his name and ability to solve crimes. Professor Rachel Moriarty was the subject of gossip five years ago when she lost her tenured professorship and so now is in London concentrating on building an exclusive tour business. Michael is intrigued by the woman who bears the last name of his literary rival. The veil between the worlds is weakening and something is trying to come through - it has found the key to unlocking the door and intends to use Rachel's innocence to re-enter this world. Can Holmes and Moriarty work together to finally put an end to the evil that was Jack the Ripper?
I have to say up front that my first thought was that anything with characters with the names Holmes and Moriarty was going to be corny and painful to read. Thankfully I was wrong and I loved the story from the paranormal nature of Holmes to the paranormal nature of the emergence of Jack the Ripper to the way that Holmes was a Dom who expected certain behaviour from Moriarty. There was enough drama and danger around the Jack the Ripper emergence as well as the more minor developing relationship between Holmes and Moriarty. Easy to read and understand, this story contained mature contents of a BDSM-like nature.
Review: Harvest by Delta James 3 of 5 stars
Harvest (Tangled Vines, #0.5)
Harvest by Delta James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Stephanie Savik was kidnapped and turned against her will but is now comfortable in her identity and is travelling to a new job as the assistant vintner at the Luna de Lobo Vineyard but is choosing to have a night in San Francisco before embarking on her new life chapter. Alexander Charles was also turned without his consent but it was done by his best friend in order to save his life. Xander is now the second in command (Beta) at Luna de Lobo. Neither believes that they will ever find their fated mate and are surprised that they are wrong when they meet at the BDSM club called Torch Light.
I enjoyed this book which was a nice introduction to the two packs, the cooperation between them, and the way that Stephanie and Xander met and became mates. A fairly short read but quite pleasant and easy to understand. Contains some mature content.
