Wyvern shifter Heliodore Wessex works as part of the Wyvern Protection Unit (a subsidiary of the Federal Paranormal Unit) and has been assigned to protect pink-haired Daeja but he knows she is hiding something big from him and although he gets the feeling she is his mate, it all clouds to make him unsure of everything. Alien Daeja crash lands on Earth after her commander insists she retrieves four stasis pods that were sent to Earth decades ago. In order to ensure her compliance, he threatens her grandfather. However, just looking at Dor is enough to send her into her heat cycle (triggered when she meets her mate) and that causes problems for her mission (or for saving her grandfather). Can she trick her protector as the FPU has demanded or will his pursuit of the truth endanger them all?
I enjoyed this story with the levels of deception although it did get a little silly after a while. A nice story and a nice bit of history on who the WPU members actually are and how they got there. Easy to read and understand. Contains a little sexual content.
