My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Lion shifter Slide was given a ticket to freedom - he just needed to rescue human Ember. As soon as they meet there is something special where his lion roars in outrage at her father's killer but then purrs when she touches him. The bad guys have no idea that they have signed their own death warrants as soon as they touched her. Can he focus on rescuing her when his initial focus was also on revenge for something in his own life plus the new discovery of loving her?
I really enjoyed this story which had several threads that all pulled together with Slide and Ember in the middle. As is common with shifter stories there were some deadly threats, some violence, some passion and even some sensitive moments. I really enjoyed the relationship between Slide and Ember and loved the way that it was a meeting of two strong and capable people. Easy to read and understand with some mature content.
