Ferry had been known by many names - Ferryman. The Grim Reaper. La Muerte. La Pelona. Shinigami. Charon as he ferried dead souls over the river Styx in Hell. Few know that he sacrificed his freedom to save his mate's soul. But he is now free to look for him but there is a problem as he doesn't remember him and he is straight. Leo was once madly in love with Ferry = can that happen again before it is too late? For Leo, he has always felt as if something is missing from his life and that even his job as a firefighter, his brother or ex-girlfriends have never been able to fill the hole. When a mysterious stranger approaches him in a bar he is captivated even though he has never been attracted to a man but it feels right.
I enjoyed this story as The Reckless Damned series by the same author featured Ferry and I wanted to know more about him and why he was in Hell. I loved the backstory and the way that Ferry was respectful in his approach to Leo (even though he did make sure that the other demons knew who Leo was to him so that he could be protected). I loved their relationship and the way that they both protected the other so that it was more equal. Easy to read, feel and understand I was totally behind this couple wanting them to be safe, happy and have a chance at the HEA they deserved. This is an MM story with mature content.
