Review: Shadows Never Leave by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Shadows Never Leave

Shadows Never Leave by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dominic has spent a decade longing for Ryan, the man who walked away but never left his heart. He’s finally ready to claim the future he always imagined — except Ryan is now engaged. Determined and obsessed, Dominic is willing to do anything to win him back, waiting in the shadows and believing one truth: they belong together.

This story is driven by the sheer stubbornness and determination of both men, each refusing to back down from the path they’ve chosen. Over time, Dominic (with a little help from others) manages to spend more time with Ryan and slowly remind him of the love that never really disappeared. Their journey is packed with deep, powerful emotions on both sides, all of them easy to feel and understand as the tension between them builds. It’s an intense, emotional read that pulls you right into their struggle and refuses to let go. This was an MM story with mature content.

Shadows Never Lie

Shadows Never Lie by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ryan has spent his life in his twin’s shadow, watching Dominic take the place he always wanted. But when Dominic finally notices him and throws out a challenge, Ryan accepts — a choice that pulls him into something intense, intimate, and far darker than he expected. Their connection blurs truth and lies, dragging Ryan out of the shadows and into dangerous territory he may not be ready for.

This story is an emotional whirlwind, taking you deep into Ryan’s jealousy, anger, sorrow, determination, and disbelief as he tries to survive the mess Dominic and Max create around him. It’s gripping, intense, and honestly hard to read at times because Ryan’s pain is so easy to feel and understand. I was furious on his behalf, which is exactly why the book hits so hard. The drama is relentless, the feelings are raw, and the author doesn’t hold back. I just hope the second part of this duet finally makes Dominic and Max face the consequences of their behaviour, because Ryan deserves so much better. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Vigilant by Cora Rose by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Vigilant

Vigilant by Cora Rose by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wylder lives by control—protecting his family, suppressing his own darkness, and keeping every part of his life predictable. But Neo shatters that stability. He’s the one temptation Wylder can’t ignore, the one variable he can’t manage. As danger closes in, Wylder finds himself drawn to Neo in ways that feel less like losing control… and more like falling in love.

A gripping, character‑driven romance that hooked me from page one.  What I loved most was the irresistible pull between Wylder and Neo—no matter how hard Wylder clung to control, Neo slipped past every one of his defences. Their connection feels magnetic, dangerous, and completely inevitable. Neo is such a beautifully layered character. Beneath the chaos and bravado is someone deeply insecure and painfully sensitive, and watching Wylder slowly recognise and respond to that vulnerability was one of my favourite parts of the book. Over time, every wall Wylder built around himself is stripped away, and the shift from rigid control to genuine emotional surrender is incredibly satisfying. And I have to say—the incident with Candace and the dye? Absolutely deserved and absolutely perfect. A fantastic addition to the series, full of tension, heart, and two men who never stood a chance of resisting each other. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Evan by Lark Taylor 4 of 5 stars

Evan

Evan by Lark Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thirteen years ago, Evan failed Reid at the moment he needed him most, turning his back when Reid begged for safety. Evan has lived with the guilt ever since, convinced he’ll never earn forgiveness. When Reid’s family tries to take him away again, Evan finally has a chance to make things right — and to protect the man he once let down. As Evan steps in, old feelings resurface and deepen into something far stronger. But Reid struggles with his own sense of worth, and Evan fears his past mistake may have cost him any chance at a future with the man he’s falling for.

I loved this deeply emotional hurt/comfort romance built on regret, healing, and the slow rebuilding of trust. Evan’s guilt over failing Reid years ago is palpable, and watching him fight to make amends gives the story a powerful sense of longing and redemption. Reid’s journey is just as moving — a man who’s been hurt too many times, struggling to believe he’s worth protecting and loving. Their connection grew through quiet moments of care, vulnerability, and the courage to face the past together. The emotional tension between them — guilt, fear, hope, and the fragile spark of something more — makes their eventual closeness incredibly rewarding. A heartfelt, tender story about second chances, forgiveness, and finding safety in someone who refuses to give up on you. I loved the connection back to other series by the author during moments of confrontation between the clans. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Deviant by Cora Rose by Lark Taylor 3 of 5 stars

Deviant

Deviant by Cora Rose by Lark Taylor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ansel’s life spirals out of control when he’s tasked with kidnapping a man named Brad to pay off a dangerous debt. Inexperienced but desperate, he thinks he’s struck lucky when a flirty stranger at a bar introduces himself as Brad and willingly goes along. But the stranger isn’t Brad at all — he’s Cade, charming, unpredictable, and secretly tied to The Firm itself. What begins as a botched kidnapping quickly becomes a deadly entanglement, as Ansel finds himself trapped in a criminal world he never meant to enter, bound to a man he never meant to take — and certainly never meant to fall for. Now, with the bad guys demanding blood and Cade complicating every step, Ansel faces the consequences of mistakes that may cost him everything.

This was a story of a reluctant criminal whose mistake entangles him with a dangerous man, forcing him to navigate passion, peril, and the unforgiving grip of criminal organisations. I did find the farce of the kidnapping and the way the relationship was between them both really hard to read and feel. Everything felt too chaotic and silly. I almost DNF this story but I did persevere and enjoyed some of the family antics. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Guarded by Lark Taylor 4 of 5 stars

Guarded

Guarded by Lark Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Noah, a celestial being, has spent centuries yearning for love from someone who never truly wanted him. After leaving his angelic unit to escape that toxic bond, he finds peace among the Seraphim and dares to hope for a future with his true fated mate—someone who will love him without question. But fate delivers a cruel twist: his destined partner, a demon named Jeremiah, panics and flees at first sight. The rejection echoes Noah’s past wounds, and he vows never to chase love again.

I loved this story with its theme of redemption, vulnerability, and the slow burn of trust. I loved the way that Jeremiah did everything he could to take things slow to build Noah's trust and show him that he was cherished and respected. There was plenty of danger and action at times in the story, and both were able to show each other the strengths and skills that their supernatural type had. Their communication skills with each other were really good and I think that set them up for success too. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Finlay by Lark Taylor 4 of 5 stars

Finlay

Finlay by Lark Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finn has spent over a century haunted by forbidden love and emotional emptiness, his devotion to the clan the only thing keeping him anchored. But when he meets Chester—a wounded, withdrawn florist hiding pieces of his former self—Finn feels something shift. Through fleeting moments and quiet connection, he begins to hope for more than just duty. As Finn dares to reach for love again, he realizes that leading the clan may have given him purpose… but loving Chester might finally give him peace.

I loved this story with the two men who had to overcome adversity in their lives but together had an unbreakable bond. I enjoyed the inclusion of other characters from the author's other books. Lots of action and danger at times as well as emotions and feelings. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Covenant by Cora Rose by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Covenant

Covenant by Cora Rose by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wyatt never believed in the legend of The Firm—an elusive organization that grants any wish, for a price. In St. Dismas, desperate souls turn to them when all else fails, unaware of the hidden cost they’ll pay once their request is fulfilled. Wyatt always vowed to stay away. But when his brother, Jackson, suffers a life-threatening injury, he has no choice. He’ll do whatever it takes to save him—no matter the consequences. The price, however, is unlike anything Wyatt imagined. It’s not smuggling or murder; it’s something far worse. Instead of paying his own debt, Wyatt is forced to fulfill someone else’s request, entangling him in a fate he never saw coming. A dark and gripping tale of desperation, sacrifice, and the unforeseen consequences of bargaining with forces beyond control.

I loved this story with the two men who had lots of history which proved to be mixed. This story showed that the line between love and hate was extremely close and that it resulted in an obsession with each other. I loved Matt's brothers who were all crazy in their own way. So much passion, feelings and emotions with a side of angst. I was totally invested in their relationship and the scene setting and descriptions were outstanding. This was an MM story with mature content.

Ezekiel, an angel, finds solace in an online game to escape the demands of Heaven and discovers a deep connection with a human named Sam. Despite knowing that fate decides his eternal mate and that he should end their growing attachment, Ezekiel cannot help but fall for Sam more each day. Sam makes him feel more alive than he has in millennia, and Ezekiel yearns to make Sam his, defying the plans fate has for him.

I enjoyed this story with the appropriate handling of Sam and his various struggles. I loved Zeke and the other angels who after education were on board with supporting Sam in whatever way he needed them (after a few false starts). A lot of emotions and feelings in this story between the two characters as well as the rest of the Angel team. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Conflicted by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Conflicted

Conflicted by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Heaven has many rules for angels to follow, but one comes above all others. Angels and demons cannot fall in love. Angel Micah has been alive for millennia and has yet to meet his fated may and as leader of the Seraphim, Heaven’s most elite unit of angels, he doesn’t have time for love. But fate has other ideas. Meeting his mate on a battlefield outside Hell is surprising, to say the least. When you add in his uncanny resemblance to the man who broke his heart, it’s safe to say he's far from pleased. The fact that he’s a demon, his natural born enemy, is just icing on the cake of this is never going to happen with Nox. It’s not like Nox wants him either. He hates Micah with a ferocity he'd come to expect from his kind. The two of them never being together is the only thing they can agree on. Still, there’s a pull between them that neither of them can ignore, no matter how much they wish they could. What starts out as hate sex, a way to try and burn off the intensity between them, quickly blossoms into something more. Something dangerous. Something forbidden.

I loved this story of forbidden love that just couldn't be denied. It also uncovered something wrong which I'm sure the series will explore. This book had a lot of feelings and emotions that will pull at your heart and make you cry. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Humility by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Humility

Humility by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Riley is a commitment phobe and a no strings hookup with sexy fireman and wolf shifter seems perfect. Then they become friends which was perfect until Riley wantef more from Danny.so he signs up for an app that arranges anonymous encounters. No names. No faces shown. No danger of pesky feelings getting involved. What could possibly go wrong? Danny can't take a mate because it would mean returning to the clan who betrayed him. I’d have to leave behind this life I’ve built, a life I’m very happy with. One where Riley occupies most of my free time. Riley is determined to use the app and so Danny's wolf insists that he be his anonymous hookup. It’s idiot-proof. At least, it would be, if Danny wasn’t an idiot. Turns out Riley isn’t the only one who should be scared of hooking up and realising you want more.

I adored this story with the hookup that turned to friendship and then something that was so much more. I loved their relationship which grew with them to be what they needed it to be. The descriptions of wolf pack area and members was detailed and their motivations was clear and easy to understand. This was an MM story with mature content. I was crushed to realise that this was the last book in the series.

Review: Temperance by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Temperance (Damned Connections, #3)

Temperance by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blaise is a fire mage who has made several bad choices that have left his life in tatters. Everyone is telling him to move on, but what he did was unforgivable, even if some believe otherwise. His whole world imploded the night he left a human dying on a classroom floor. He needs some peace. Vampire Toby offers a solution for him to enter into a contract (not a relationship) where Toby is his Dom and all he has to do is obey him. It feels right so Blaise needs to guard his heart and remember it is just a contract. For Toby, he makes the same mistake every time and falls for the sub in his contract. He must protect his heart and keep it professional.

I loved this story which was very unpredictable and dramatic at times. Poor Blaise had PTSD and suicidal tendencies but Toby mostly got him to move past it. I loved all of the history and the fact that over time Toby was able to get Blaise to respond to crises where they all needed to work together to protect people or places. There were a lot of emotions and feelings in the story and I loved that it was due to their inability to communicate properly that they had some of the problems between them. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like D/s dynamic.

Review: Red Haze by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Red Haze (Caffeine Daydreams #3)

Red Haze by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Arlo's membership in Caffeine Daydreams helped him to escape the chaos of his childhood so now he has fame and an almost unlimited bank account you would think he would be happy but he is not. He is suffering from depression and a self-destructive spiral. Then Jack is assigned to him as his bodyguard he is every one of Arlo's wet dreams brought to life, but he’s straight and tasked with keeping him out of mischief. Then friendship followed and they would come to depend on one another. When it’s all ripped away, can he find a way to exist without Jack at his side or is he destined to love someone he can never have? After Jack left the SAS personal security seemed like a logical next step. Guarding Arlohe believed he’d be guarding some spoiled kid with more money than sense but nothing could be further from the truth. With the line between professional and personal blurring, Arlo quickly becomes the most important person in his life. When faced with a choice between keeping Arlo in his life or protecting him Jack chooses protecting him although the price has cut him far deeper than he thought possible. Can he persuade Arlo to give him another chance or will he have to resign himself to just seeing him on his screen?

This was a deep final book in the series, which included love between two men who thought they could not be together, stalking, rage and intense happiness. I liked that they started as friends and that those feelings grew to be somewhat more. It was great that Jack helped Arlo to get help for his depression and that he found some new friends to discuss his dilemmas over loving Arlo. The stalker's identity was a surprise and I was so glad that he was finally stopped. Lots of emotions and feelings in this addictive book. This was an MM book with mature content.

Review: Justice by Lark Taylor 4 of 5 stars

Justice (Damned Connections, #2)

Justice by Lark Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vampire assassin Sebastian has only focused on blood, torture and murder for centuries. Then he sees human Matty smile who is loving and innocent and something dormant in him awakens. But Sebastian is convinced that he will corrupt him and can't give him what he needs however can't stay away. Matty is surrounded by couples who are in love and always thought he would have that. Then after a horrific night, he decided to look for other things in a partner - someone who’s predictable, safe and stable. But he can't stay away from Sebastian when all he has shown is kindness towards him. But he can't keep fighting for them as a couple when he is the only one fighting.

This story was big on emotions and definitely will cause you to shed some tears. Matty was sweet but not quite so innocent and very strong even though Sebastian did break him at one point. Sebastian's painful dark past was very sad but he did eventually get over it for Matty which was a relief as I think one of the friends would have killed him if he didn't. Easy to read, feel and understand you will get emotional as you read this. It was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Christmas for Keeps by Ryan Taylor by Joshua Harwood 3 of 5 stars

Christmas for Keeps

Christmas for Keeps by Ryan Taylor by Joshua Harwood
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Zach was supposed to be on a winter vacation in Stowe, Vormont with his best friend but she couldn't make it, the weather was dreadful and he hit an SUV and then his hotel reservation was given away as he was so late. The SUV was owned by Connor (who was his ex although technically they never broke up) and he ended up staying with him in his cabin. Can they make it work this time?

This was a lovely story where Zach and Connor learn that communication is key and that no matter what they must talk to each other. I liked the way the neighbour became part of that lesson. A really good feel story as the women reconnected and realised that they still loved each other. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.

** Please note that Zach and Connor were characters in Swimming Agaist The Tide and that this is their reunion and HEA story.

Review: Patience by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Patience (Damned Connections, #1)

Patience by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ferry had been known by many names - Ferryman. The Grim Reaper. La Muerte. La Pelona. Shinigami. Charon as he ferried dead souls over the river Styx in Hell. Few know that he sacrificed his freedom to save his mate's soul. But he is now free to look for him but there is a problem as he doesn't remember him and he is straight. Leo was once madly in love with Ferry = can that happen again before it is too late? For Leo, he has always felt as if something is missing from his life and that even his job as a firefighter, his brother or ex-girlfriends have never been able to fill the hole. When a mysterious stranger approaches him in a bar he is captivated even though he has never been attracted to a man but it feels right.

I enjoyed this story as The Reckless Damned series by the same author featured Ferry and I wanted to know more about him and why he was in Hell. I loved the backstory and the way that Ferry was respectful in his approach to Leo (even though he did make sure that the other demons knew who Leo was to him so that he could be protected). I loved their relationship and the way that they both protected the other so that it was more equal. Easy to read, feel and understand I was totally behind this couple wanting them to be safe, happy and have a chance at the HEA they deserved. This is an MM story with mature content.

Review: Luck of the Devil by Lark Taylor 5 of 5 stars

Luck of the Devil (The Reckless Damned #4)

Luck of the Devil by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Demon Dagon has loved angel Dimitri for decades but their relationship just doesn't work no matter how hard they try as they are both dominant. When Dimitri tells Dagon he has met their human mate he finds it hard to get his head around the fact that they need a third to make their relationship work. With Hell knocking at the door and an uprising threatening us all, can we persuade human Lucky to give us a chance before it’s too late? First, they have to solve the problem as to who is hurting Lucky and then persuade him to give them both a chance before he does his usual thing and runs.

This was a great finale to the series and I loved that Dagon and Dimitri finally had the missing piece so that they could be happy together forever. Lucky was perfect for them both and it was beautiful to experience these three men being happy together. The final battle between the brothers and Hell was interesting and I felt that their mates came into their own as they coped with the special entertainment arranged for them. Easy to read, feel and understand I could easily see their happiness in front of them. This is an MMM story with mature content.

Deal With the Devil (The Reckless Damned, #3)

Deal With the Devil by Lark Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Demon Mori loved a human once and losing him almost killed him and he's waiting now for his fated mate to appear. When a nervous human brokers a deal to find his brother he can't refuse as even though he no longer tracks River makes him want to try as a distraction waiting for his mate. It becomes clear that River is not all he seems to be and Mori can't deny the attraction between them but Mori is not in a position to promise forever so doesn't go there. Mage River realises that making a deal with a son of Lucifer to track his brother is not a great idea when he is currently at the top of Mori's hit list. But he is out of options and as Blaise's death creeps closer each day he has to save him. Mori is everything River wants in a partner but he is not his mated mate even if he could move past his deception.

I really enjoyed this story with the Demon helping a defenceless human find his brother, the Mage who is pretending to be human to get his help and the push and pull as they had the deception and the fated mate issue hanging between them. I loved the way that they were able to sneak into each other's homes as the wards wouldn't stop a fated mate from going in there. Lots of fire and passion between them and yet they were perfect for each other. Easy to read, understand and feel their emotions. This is an MM story with mature content with some use of ropes.

Review: Devil May Care by Lark Taylor 4 of 5 stars

Devil May Care (The Reckless Damned, #2)

Devil May Care by Lark Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Demon Harlow wasn't thinking about finding his fated mate and tying himself down for eternity. The first time he meets gentle Welsh giant Bailey and knows he is the one only for them to share a kiss and then for Bailey to reject him. So instead Harlow has to watch him from the shadows. In a different approach, he builds a friendship with him thinking that being his friend is better than nothing. A clan of mages are looking for trouble and so he has to protect Bailey. Bailey thinks that no one will stay and that he doesn't deserve anyone (and especially someone as gorgeous as Harlow). As they get closer Bailey knows that Harlow is holding something from him- how can he trust him if he doesn't explain what he is hiding?

I enjoyed this story with the confidence issues, the secrets and the trust between them both. I loved that Harlow did everything he could to stay in Bailey's life and would have stayed as his friend if that was all that was possible. It's become apparent that the demon brothers are possessive and will stalk and protect their mates. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.
