Obsessed

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gabriel is the Initiator of Les Frères Perdus. He lives with the family he created, in a golden cage that is his castle where he is King. But when his brother comes home from New York,he sees him. Hidden in the shadows, tall and strong, yet timid and kind. Mason represents an emotion he’d thought was trapped inside him, lost in nostalgia. The connection to his past, wrapped around me in silk rope, now tied around the neck of the man my brothers have brought home. Mason’s inexperienced, and he lashes out with anger. He wants to fight, though he can’t deny what we both crave. His beautiful, strong lapin. Because he'll take it all, and more. Looking after Pops, and making sure he keep his spot in the Inner Circle of the Business, are the top priorities in Mason's life. He never asked if there’s anything more. Until they come after him, those we have branded as murderers, as our enemy. They chase him away from the second row and into the spotlight, where he awaits. Gabriel is the most stunning man he's ever seen, and as wicked as he is gentle. As ruthless as he is compassionate. He becomes the enigma he wants to unravel.

This was a dark story with Mason and Gabriel. It was also interesting to learn a bit more about the Les Frères Perdus through Mason's eyes. The ending was interesting and I think that the next book will be interesting. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Mr. Frosty Pants by Leta Blake
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When Casey Stevens went away to college four years ago, he ghosted on his best friend, Joel Vreeland. He hoped time and distance would lessen the unrequited affection he felt, but all it did was make him miss Joel more. Home for the holidays, Casey hopes they might find a way to be friends again. But Joel’s frosty reception reminds Casey of just how hard he had to fight to be Joel’s friend in the first place. It’s going to take a Christmas miracle to get past that cool façade again. Joel's years of pining for Casey have left him hurting and alone, caring for his abusive father and struggling to get by. Unable to trust anyone except his rescue dog his icy heart might shatter before it can thaw. Can Casey and Joel’s love overcome mistrust, parental rejection, class differences, and four long years apart?

This was an ok story although I did find it hard going as I found that my irritation with the characters detracted from the story. I did like that they were together and it gave them the strength to go against the negativity of their families. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Is it possible to find your soulmate while stuck in a time loop? When a box of magical items ends up at the university where Quinn is a professor, it's his job to go through everything. The last thing he's expecting is for one of those items to have a magical side effect when he and Bennet touch it at the same time. Bennet's been hiding his feelings for Quinn for years. When the two of them are stuck in a magical time loop together because of a magical time piece, will this finally be the right time to talk to Quinn about his feelings?

I enjoyed this story with the two men who loved each other from afar but had to finally talk to each other after living the same day repeatedly. I loved that they were able to play with the days as they took each other on adventures. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.

Twins Casper and Carver always get into the Halloween spirit. After all, their mom is one of Hollywood’s biggest scream queens and picked their names for her favourite holiday. This year, things are different. Their job as bartenders at a local kink club has put them on the wrong person’s radar. At least, that’s the collective opinion. Casper reluctantly accepts the help of a friend for extra security. It doesn't hurt that his new guard is seven shades of sexy. He could get used to being watched. When London’s boss orders him to keep Casper safe, he has no idea what he’s walking into. While London has always considered himself as straight as they come, Casper has something London can’t shake. Now he just needs to keep Casper alive long enough to figure out his feelings. That might be easier said than done.

I loved this story with the danger stalking Casper and the internal struggle London had with his sexuality. I liked the little peek at Carver as a teaser for the next book. The suspence as the stalking events happened was suitably dramatic. Easy to, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

** Please note Leather Bait Twins is a spinoff and has characters from the Kings of the East series. This duology is contemporary Halloween-themed spicy romances meant to heat up your day.

Review: A Stable Daddy by Anna Sparrows 3 of 5 stars

A Stable Daddy

A Stable Daddy by Anna Sparrows
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ryan Sharp never thought he’d be a widower at 51, but that’s the way his cookie unexpectedly crumbled. A year after his husband’s death, he has (mostly) put his life back together. With plans to open a new veterinary clinic on the other side of the country in the works, he heads to his local BDSM club to hopefully find a Dom and let off some steam. That’s where 34-year-old Oscar Williams finds him, and just in the nick of time, too. Visiting a kink club while he’s passing through Brisbane, his protective Daddy instincts kick in when he stumbles upon a Sub being mistreated. Both men have emotional baggage, and Ryan’s never been anyone’s Boy, but bumping into each other again on a random cattle station on the other side of Australia turns out to be a sign neither man can ignore.

This was a sweet story of a second chance at love as a younger Daddy found himself his perfect boy in older vet Ryan. I loved the atmosphere at the cattle station with all of the accepting men. I loved the relationship between Ryan and Oscar. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a Daddy/boy dynamic.

Fierce

Fierce by Lola Malone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Charlie feels like he's drowning. After his parents were executed, his life crumbled at his feet, and he can't lose the only family member he has left. Even if it means accepting a seat within the inner circle of the Business, the crime organisation he wants nothing to do with. Even if it means going on a dangerous mission to earn his seat in their ranks. But when that assignment leads him to a trip down memory lane and he comes face-to-face with the guy who used to be his best friend, he knows he's being challenged to change his life, and regain his strength. He must trust the one man who seems to want to help him. The man who's claiming his very existence. Samuel is a man with a simple dream: become a martial arts instructor and claim the man he's wanted for as long as he can remember. The mysterious boy he worshipped from afar when they were just teenagers, the shy guy who stumbled back into his life when he joined the Business, the broken man he's now sworn to protect. Charlie's haunted by nightmares and horrors from his past, terrified of letting anyone in. But he won't be able to escape Samuel. He was always his from the beginning.

I loved this story with Charlie struggling with his mental health problems after his parent's murders in his childhood and all of the emotions and feelings around that contrasted with the love and devotion towards him from Samuel. The involvement of his childhood friend Ezra was a puzzle but he did help. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

A Halloween Kind of Night

A Halloween Kind of Night by M.A. Innes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Everyone knows Halloween is about playing pretend and finding the best chocolate. But when Boone’s best friend picks out the strangest costumes with an odd backstory that makes Wynn blush, Boone has to acknowledge that something is up. That doesn’t mean he understands why they’re dressed up as a puppy and his Handler, though. Wynn was supposed to be the only one who knew the meaning behind their costumes. But when a barista with a big mouth and a naughty Halloween party spills the beans, he knows it’s time to confess more than just what his puppy costume means. Feelings, needs, and questions are finally coming to the surface, but with two best friends, it’ll take more than toys and tails to rock their foundation.

This was a sweet story of how Wynn and Boone finally confessed their true feelings for each other and found that their kinks were aligned. The coffee shop party was the perfect setting for their kink discussion and relationship discussion to start. I loved the observation that littles were great for throwing balls for a pup. Easy to read, feel and understand there was a lot of analysis of their relationship. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like puppy play dynamic.

Review: The Uncertain Unicorn by Lorelei M. Hart 3 of 5 stars

The Uncertain Unicorn

The Uncertain Unicorn by Lorelei M. Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Once there were many unicorns, but now there are few, and with the loss of Cliff's tiger-shifter mate, his daughter is a one half-unicorn and one half-tiger rarity. The university where he hoped for tenure has just shut down their entomology department, leaving few other options to support us. He needs to make a new start. Remarkably I’ve found the opportunity both to work and to ease the loneliness of the past several years in a national park out West.  Everest might have been out of his mind or possibly drunk the night he filled out the Male-Order Mates app form that night. But so many of his fellow rangers have had incredible luck in meeting their special omega that the thought of one more winter in that cabin alone provided the final boost to clicking the send button. Cliff is a unicorn, not another bear like Everest, but he’s also interested in accepting the special project they’ve had trouble finding, making it a win win for both of us. Or a huge mistake. But how did I miss the message that it’s not just a male-order unicorn...but that he comes as a package deal with a very sassy daughter. They’ve given up their home and everything else to come here and start fresh. And there are no other available winterised cabins, so we are going to spend the cold, snowy months together. Me. A unicorn omega. And Felicity...

This was a sweet story of how Cliff and Everest met and built a family with daughter Felicty. I liked the sassiness of Felicity but I did think that Cliff was a bit irresponsible with the move and leap of faith with a daughter in tow. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

Just a Little Magic

Just a Little Magic by Kerry Kilpatrick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Owen has been in love with Barrett since they met in college. Ten plus years and nothing has changed. No man would ever measure up to him, so why would he waste his time? They'd never be Barrett. He'll never be the one for him, so he works as the in-house designer at Barrett's firm and takes what he can get. He might be a Daddy, but he's not interested Owen's my kind of little. Barrett has been in love with Owen since college. More than ten years later, that hasn't changed. He's tried to move on from him, but other men have never measured up. To keep him close, he hired Owen at his hospitality firm, and he takes what he's willing to share. Owen might be a little, but he's not interested in Barrett's kind of Daddy. These two best friends will need some help from fate and a little magic to make their happily ever after happen.

This was a sweet story of two men who loved each other and had time and a lot of false assumptions between them. I loved that circumstances meant that they were able to correct their assumptions and find the future that they both deserve. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

Just a Little in Love

Just a Little in Love by Victoria Sue
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rowan couldn’t remember a time when he was truly happy. Especially not suffering from his mother’s so-called care or his father’s complete indifference. The only time he was even a little bit free was every Friday night at the club with his friends. And even there, he wasn’t ever quite good enough. Not quite good enough to relax and let his Little self truly come out to play, and especially never good enough to get a Daddy of his very own. And to further complicate things, he’d adored Master Gabriel from afar for the last two years, except Master Gabriel was a Dom that wanted boys on their knees, and Rowan just wanted to be in his lap. Then Rowan makes a really bad decision out of desperation and Master Gabriel comes to his rescue. Will Master Gabriel discover that Rowan is exactly what he’s been searching for all this time? Or will he simply pick up his whip and go look elsewhere, leaving Rowan just a Little alone?

I loved his story which was so emotional and it was so easy to empathise and feel what Rowan was going through. I just wanted to hug him and feed him a bottle. Gabe had no chance as soon as he intervened when Rowan was in trouble. It was easy to feel and understand this story which was emotional in places. This was an MM story with mature content with a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

Wishing Hearts by Emmy Sanders
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Harrison left Plum Valley ten years ago, he never thought he’d return. But a call about animals in crisis brings him back to the town which inadvertently breaks his heart. What he doesn’t expect is Sam. The animal control officer looks every bit like a cowboy's wet dream, and for whatever reason, he’s latched on to Harrison like a dog with a bone. One impulsive night together only leaves him wanting more, but as a single parent with loads of baggage, dating isn’t easy. Could Harrison try with Sam, the man with the quick smile and surprisingly filthy mouth? Or is he only setting himself up for another round of heartache? Sammy can’t say he's ever been called a wallflower. When he sees something he wants, he goes after it and what he wants is Harrison. But the veterinarian with the soulful blue eyes has his walls built up high. He doesn’t seem to understand that his messy life doesn’t scare him one bit. He's always wanted a family to call his own. A family like his. Convincing Harrison they could work may be a challenge, but he's up for the task. Amidst pillow forts, bedtime stories, and camping under the stars, he knows he's falling - for all of it. He just hopes he's not the only one wishing for a happily-ever-after in the end.

I loved this story with the determined Sammy, the cautious Harrison and the adorable little girl who deserved happiness with the two men. The thoughts and emotions of the characters were told clearly and were easy to feel and understand. I was sad that this was the last book in the series. This was an MM story with mature content.

Torin Barker is a devoted husband and father to his newborn daughter. But after a terrible accident takes his wife from them just months after the baby’s birth, he’s not sure how to move forward. He wants to provide the best of everything to his baby girl, but she’s allergic to all the formulas he tries and he needs to purchase human milk. When the supply is low at the milk bank, he resorts to hiring a live-in wet nurse to make sure his baby’s needs are always met. But when the wet nurse shows up, he’s shocked not only to find a man standing there but the man who got away. His first crush was from back in high school when he wasn’t sure if he was into men or women. The best friend he never thought he’d see again was standing on his doorstep with a suitcase and a smile. Joss has been in a bit of a rough patch, couch surfing and taking freelance gigs while trying to figure out what to do with his life. So when the request for a live-in job comes up from The Lactin Brotherhood, he’s in. All in. Neither Torin nor Joss expects to see each other on that doorstep, and when they do, the feelings they both tried to leave behind so many years ago come rushing back in.

This was a sweet story centred on the two ex-lovers and a sweet little girl. I liked that they took their time but there was no detailed character development nor more analysis of their thoughts and feelings. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and male lactation.

Class Act by Sage Abbott
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Abe Cooper is a triple threat to Emery as he's his best friend's father, is the football coach at his high school and he's a married man. However, his marriage is on the rocks and he could lose his job for the way he looks at me. Emery could lose his only friend in the world. He knows that he shouldn't flirt with him but all the cons don't outweigh how he feels when he's with him. When Emery's home situation gets worse, Abe is there for him. But what they do under his roof when everyone's asleep makes him feel guilty. Now his daughter, his closest friend, knows her Dad is stepping outside his marriage and she's hellbent on finding out who it is. How long can we keep it a secret and how dare we be happy together when it might hurt the ones we love?

This was a nice story although I did find the plot a bit strange when everything came out and everyone appeared to move on from everything. I also found it hard to believe that the school didn't have some involvement and didn't do something to Abe's employment.  Easy to read and understand, this was an MM story with mature content.

Will

Will by Kerry Kilpatrick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Will is a social worker on Almstead Island, and he's come to understand the hidden battles people face. But seeing Beckett injured shook him. Behind his tough exterior, there's a vulnerability that tugs at his heartstrings. Will wants to be his daddy, not just to fulfil a fantasy, but to provide the comfort and security he so desperately needs. The injury didn't just hurt Beckett's body; it exposed the emotional bruises his family has inflicted on him since childhood. Their constant criticisms and jokes have worn him down even more than his job as a cop in their small town. Will’s kindness and understanding offer a reprieve from the suffocating weight of their judgment. Beckett wants to be his boy for longer than a fling. Beckett needs to drop his guard and Will needs to find the line between nurturing and smothering. Both of these men want what the other is offering, but they’ll have to get out of their own way to make it happen.

I loved this story of the quiet cop who needed a Daddy to care for and stick up for him. Beckett really had horrible parents but it was only when Will stuck up for him that others realised that it was not a good situation. I loved their relationship and that Will did not let Beckett wallow in his feelings. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.

He has an amazing work family at the cabaret bar where he performs, Chicago fits him better than his Texas hometown ever did, and he's truly happy. Especially once Jameson walks into his life. The new bartender accepts him effortlessly for who he is, and the man is more than easy on the eyes. In fact, the way he looks out for Bo is giving him all sorts of ideas, even though those cuddles were purely platonic. Weren’t they? But Bo has more on his mind than finding Mr. Right. His brother Diesel won’t stop hounding him, which means it’s time to face the very thing he's been avoiding for years. He needs to return to Plum Valley and confront his past. Jameson has never met anyone quite like Bo. Every time they’re up on stage in their makeup and heels, he watches them. When that shy blush spreads over their cheeks off-stage, he stares. And when he finds them crying in the storage room after a difficult conversation with their brother, he can’t help but soothe away their tears. He always assumed he was only attracted to women, but suddenly, he's questioning everything. Including his reaction to the sight of Bo in lingerie. He might have a lot to figure out, like whether or not Bo is interested in me. But he thinks it’s fairly safe to say he's not as straight as he thought he was.

I loved this story with Bo finding a found family and life that gave him the freedom to be himself. Luke had a bi-awakening in his 50s which was a shock. Joel came out of nowhere and rocked his foundations. As a widower too, he understood Luke in a way no one else ever has. Being with Joel wasn't only his first time with a man, he's also polyamorous, and kinky. Luke thought meeting his other boyfriend would make it easier for him. But, never in a million years did he expect his boyfriend to be Cameron, his son’s best friend. After Cameron moved to New York and became a make-up artist, it took a lot to surprise him. Those Broadway types are wild! Joel's other man, his best friend's sexy, and very straight dad, Luke, was the curveball he never imagined. Joel cared about him a lot. Why wouldn't he? He's one of the best men he's ever met!  After Joel lost his soul mate, his late husband, he never thought he'd find love again. Luke and Cameron bulldozed their way into his life, and he found himself falling head over heels for them both. Once we got over the shock of who Cameron was to Luke, it became obvious just how good we were together. All three of us together, not just Joel with each of them. On paper, they had to look strange, but with all the recent talk of fated mates and all the other changes in the world, he had to wonder, could Cameron and Luke be his?

I enjoyed this story with the three men who were in a relationship with each other. There were some negotiations as the two different relationships became one as it changed to include the three of them. I enjoyed the fact that Luke's children were so open minded. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MMM story with mature content.

Cried Out by Kate Hawthorne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brooks is the same as the rest of his friends, but also nothing like them. Handsome as many and richer than most, getting men to come home with him has never been a problem. At least, not until he met Tate Barlowe at The Black Door. He’s younger and less experienced, but more than willing. He also sneaks out before Brooks can get his phone number, leaving him to rethink everything between them. Tate had spent months of trying and failing to lose his virginity, so decided a little lie is in order. Astor Brooks basically falls into his lap, so falling into his bed is the easy choice. He's not after a relationship, and even though he wants me to stay when we're done, he doesn’t see the need. The problem, he later finds out, is that Brooks is one of a kind in every way. Leaving Brooks high and dry was a bad decision, but once again fate brings them together, and he's ready for another chance. The problem is, Tate lied to him about more than one thing, and Brooks won’t take what he doesn’t trust. He wants Astor Brooks, and he's not giving him up without a fight. He's never met a man like him, and he never will again, but he’s never met a man like me either. The way he loves is like nothing he's ever experienced, and even though he makes him cry, Tate likes it, loves it and loves him. There’s so much in this world outside of their control, but when he's on my knees for him, everything makes sense. Now, Tate just has to make sure he feels the same.

I enjoyed this story with the two men who were into the same kink and who were almost obsessed with each other. I loved their relationship and that they knew that they were perfectly matched. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.

Corinne Adler, Night Concierge for the famed Savoy Hotel, knows just how wrong that legend is for each time Big Ben has struck thirteen, demons have tried to escape their prison in another realm. The responsibility of being Guardian of the Tower Clock has fallen to her, a duty which her family has served for almost two centuries. Eddy Chastain is the last of the reoccurring characters in the erotic romance novels written by Sage Matthews. He is a hacker extraordinaire and prefers to remain deep within the pages of Sage’s books. But there is something about the Night Concierge of the Savoy that haunts him -  a memory of sorts from a man whose creator never gave him much of a backstory. When the stars align to cause Big Ben to strike thirteen, Corinne knows she and the lions must defeat the demons and keep the city safe. But the veil has become strained and the demons more clever. Can Eddy come to Corinne’s aid and keep the forces of evil at bay?

Review: His Master by M.M. Farmer 4 of 5 stars

His Master

His Master by M.M. Farmer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Simon had no idea what to expect from his first experiment with the Dark Fantasies Club. An easy way to indulge during heat without consequences? A chance to explore the more subservient part of his personality? He knew anything was possible. What he didn't expect was to end up at the centre of someone else’s family drama or to want to be a part of it with my whole heart. For Victor playing around with a random omega from the Dark Fantasies Club was supposed to help him let off some steam, not make him hotter than he's ever been before. But Simon isn't like any other omega, and too big a part of Victor wants him to belong to him for real. The timing couldn't be worse, though. Not when, after all these years, his corrupt uncle finally opened a door for him to take over the family business and set it back on the right track. But doing the right thing with Victory Holdings comes with more danger than he ever thought possible, and when Simon becomes a pawn at the centre of the game, Victor would do anything to protect the omega he wasn't supposed to fall in love with.

I loved this story of the two men who were only supposed to be together for a set time but they were so compatible that they fell in love. I enjoyed the complex situation with Victor's family and how the men handled it. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Possession by Kiki Clark 5 of 5 stars

Possession

Possession by Kiki Clark
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Being the boss has left no room for things like love and family in Tomas’s life. He tells himself he doesn’t mind, that the work he and his MC do is more important than his cold bed at night. He almost has himself convinced. But as tensions heat up between the MC and the community, a pair of boys in need of affection and a firm hand disrupt his orderly days and leave him aching to possess them at night. Mason is sweet and obedient, his dark eyes begging for things Tomas has only fantasised about. But Vinnie’s submission is wrapped in a hard outer shell he’ll need to carefully crack open to uncover the good boy underneath. It isn’t just Tomas’s heart on the line—it’s the legacy of the Devil’s Hands. And he’s not willing to trade one for the other. His boys are everything he’s ever wanted, and the club’s work is something he’s not willing to sacrifice to appease hateful bystanders. It’s time for a reminder of just who the hell they’re dealing with.

I loved this story with the three men - two who had loved each other and been together for years and the third man who completed their relationship and kept them all on an even keel. A lot of raw emotions and feelings were discussed in this story which covered all three men. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MMM story with mature content.

Review: The Mistrustful Mountain Lion's Omega by Lorelei M. Hart 3 of 5 stars

The Mistrustful Mountain Lion's Omega

The Mistrustful Mountain Lion's Omega by Lorelei M. Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Jagger spoke to a friend who was happy because of his omega who he met through an app so she spent time filling it in to find someone for himself.  Two days later, they claimed they’d found someone for him, but he thought it was too good to be true. Second-guessing himself, he deleted the app. Ready to make a fresh start, Rex signed up with the Male-Order app. The app pinged him saying it found a match, almost 100 per cent, but the guy never answered any of his messages. He was gorgeous and had his own business. And since Rex is pretty damned good with a computer, he tracked him down. And now that he's there, he doesn’t know what in the heck he was thinking. This Jagger guy is not his type. He’s rugged and bearded and all the things he’d always claimed he didn’t want. So why is it his body and his animal practically demand he hops over that bar and formally introduce himself?

This was a sweet story but Jagger's determination to resist Rex became a little tiring. I did also think that even when mated their communication was not good and not as respectful as it should be. Not as enjoyable a story as it should have been. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

Swan Hearts

Swan Hearts by Emmy Sanders
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

There are three things that Jake and his best friend Nash Dupree are good at. Fishing. Fighting. And another F-word that sure isn’t friendship. Nash has been by his side for the last thirty years, but despite their long, complicated history, there are some things the town bartender still keeps close to his chest. And now those secrets are threatening to tear them apart. Nash may be running from his feelings and tackling ghosts only he can see, but Jake refuses to let him run away from his just because he’s scared. Jake loves that stubborn fool, and after everything we’ve been through, he's not giving him up without a fight. Since Nash set eyes on Jake Hanson, he’s had his hook in him. No matter how hard he tried to keep the lines of their friendship from being muddled, he was powerless to resist his pull. But the big-hearted veterinarian deserves more than Nash can give. And if he found out the truths he's been hiding, he’d see him as another pet project to doctor and mend. All Nash can do now is make things right. And hopefully, when he's long gone from Plum Valley, Texas, Jake will finally understand the truth. That he’s better off without Nash and always has been.

I wanted to like this book as I have the others in this series, but the constant dips into the past became annoying. It distracted me to the point that I just wanted the book to end. This was an MM book with mature content.

Review: Tristan by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Tristan

Tristan by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tristan had volunteered his assistance on Mason’s case, as Jasper needs men he can count on. Tristan wasn’t expecting to meet the very interesting new coroner, but, as the bodies pile up and the mystery deepens, Tristan appreciates her expertise and the spark between them. Amarylis had no idea working on Coronado base would be so interesting or so dangerous. Apparently someone watched her during her work at the scene of a shooting, noting she had picked up something which someone wanted badly. Now in danger and caught up in Tristan’s case, Amarylis can only hope he gets to the bottom of this mess, before she ends up on her own table in the morgue.

I loved this story with the on going mystery of who shot Mason and why merged seamlessly with the mystery as to who was after the item Amarylis picked up and how determined they were to find it or eliminate anyone who failed to find it. I loved how feisty Amarylis was and how protective Tristan was of her. Easy to read, feel and understand.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Review: The Wolf Assassin's Mate by Lorelei M. Hart 2 of 5 stars

The Wolf Assassin's Mate

The Wolf Assassin's Mate by Lorelei M. Hart
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Being a protector isn’t supposed to be easy or glamorous. Hammer never expected it to be. We have one job: to keep shifter-kind safe from those who would do us harm. Sometimes that means doing the ugly and violent things others want to pretend don’t happen. He's fine with all of that, knowing he's making the world a better place. When he gets his new mission, he plans to go in, annihilate the threat, and get out. Easy peasy. Only it’s anything but when he finds himself face-to-face with his true mate being held against his will and very, very pregnant. My oath as a protector no longer matters. He has two jobs to do - save his mate and shut down the breeding ring holding him captive - the one run by “the good guys” he works for.

This was a story which started well but then left a lot of open questions like what is the shifter mafia and why do the other members have such weird names like "pop-tart" ? There was a lot of repeated dialog due to the changing POVs. This was set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

Austin was Connor's secret college crush, his obsession for three years. Until he found out, punished and humiliated him and then promised to hunt Connor down.
Now, with graduation behind him, He returned to NY, to the top of his so-called ivory tower, where his family rules the underground scene with an iron fist. Austin might be a cocky playboy with a gorgeous smile, but Connor is done with this obsession. Only he's not. Because Austin turned out to be a member of the Void, a rival mafia family. And when a murderous sex cult begins to drop bodies on both sides, guess who's assigned to accompany Connor to Paris to investigate their mutual enemy? Yeah. And he can't keep his hands off. Today must be Austin's lucky day. Because that shy, socially awkward guy from college has just walked right back into his life. Spluttering and blushing, so damn sweet. The ultimate definition of a turn-on. Only this trip to Paris is not quite what he expected. What should have been standard procedure, turns out to be a mind-altering event, and that’s not just the murderous sex-cult they're facing. There’s something about Connor. He’s so much more. He wanted to have him. He just never thought he'd want to keep him.

I enjoyed this story although I did find some parts a little confusing plus I did dislike Austin at times as he was such a bully. The plot with the cult was interesting though. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was a MM story with mature content.

The Unlikely Heir

The Unlikely Heir by Jax Calder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Callum's boring life working in an insurance call centre in sunny California took an unexpected turn when thanks to his misbehaving relatives, he leapt from obscurity to royalty as the new heir to the British throne. But his welcome in England is about as warm as the weather. He arrives to discover a country horrified at the thought of an American version of Prince Charming and ready to revolt against the monarchy. He vows to his grandmother, the queen, that he will do everything possible to help her save the crown. Unfortunately, royal life isn’t easy. From bewildering traditions, traitorous friends, and malevolent swans, the only thing he's succeeding in is providing entertainment for the tabloids and social media trolls. Then the broodingly handsome prime minister, Oliver Hartwell, bursts into his life. With his meteoric rise from poverty to the most powerful man in the country, Oliver understands his current plight. Innocent messages of support turn into late-night chats and unexpected feelings. But there’s one major problem. The royal family must remain politically neutral at all times. So how can he keep his promise to save the monarchy when he's falling in love with the prime minister?

This was a mixture between a comedy and a love story. I loved the bad jokes, the compassion and the love that existed between Callum and Oliver. Easy to read, feel and understand you will smile, laugh and feel sad when reading this story.  Remember to be cautious near birds! This was an MM story with mature content.

Autumn Sinclair owes it to his coven to be the next witch in an arranged marriage. Realising he can't escape fate, he wanders into Rook's Apothecary, searching for a love potion that will help him fall in love with the man he'll be forced to marry. Rook is a wolf who can't hide his beastly appearance. Which is fine. He has his shop, his best friends, and his secret crush on the beautiful man who walks by his window every day. That is, until one morning, Autumn walks into Rook's shop.

The Brooding Bear's Omega

The Brooding Bear's Omega by Lorelei M. Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sheppard Knox is the alpha of his bear pack. And that takes up all his time. He’s always been taught his life as a leader should be pack first and self second. Such thinking leaves little time for a mate, much less dating. When his beta goes behind his back and signs him up for the Male-Order app, he blows it off, thinking it is all nonsense. Except his pack takes it one step too far. Out of nowhere, an omega knocks on the door claiming he was ordered from the app . Toklo Chase is a polar bear who has spent his life raising his siblings, caring for each of them until they were old enough to leave home. His parents died fighting for what they believed in, but now, he wants to take his own life by the horns or the claws. So when he matches almost 100 per cent with a grizzly from the Pacific Northwest, he recognises his chance. Without a second thought, he packs everything and takes it.

I enjoyed this story although some of the incidents with the pack members were a bit silly. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

Hawthorne has lived in the same small town his entire life. And I like being a rancher, taking care of his chickens, and even his meddlesome family. What he doesn’t like is the limited dating options. He's gay, and at thirty-six years old, he's never been with a man. When he enters a contest to win his favourite adult entertainer’s support for the town’s first Pride Parade, he never expects to win. And he never expected to find himself in a friends-with-benefits relationship with the man. The problem is he quickly realised that he wanted more. But could someone as confident, sexy, and independent as Silver ever consider building a life with a simple cowboy like him? Mateo's work is his life. Filming under the moniker Silver, he's happy enough making good money, he's free from his crummy past and well on his way to the career he dreams about, and he's not looking for any complications. Hawthorne Moore, has a sweet-as-molasses drawl, an adorable gap-toothed smile, and the beautiful way in which he begs, and suddenly, Mateo finds himself getting in too deep. And that’s a problem because he's spent years building up these walls around his heart, and he doesn’t know how to bust them down. Can he work through his trauma and lasso himself a cowboy, or will he lose the only man who’s ever loved him?

The Lonely Lynx's Omega

The Lonely Lynx's Omega by Lorelei M. Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ever since seeing my best friends with their new family, something inside me has clicked.
Roman is done with the old Roman. He was a player and damned good at it. He doesn’t want to play anymore. He wants an omega and the family - someone to come home to.
Without telling anyone, he's applied for a Male-Order omega and is waiting for that beep, telling him that they’ve found him one. If they do half as well as they did for my friend at the ranger station, he knows they’ll have a happy life. Salem had a crush on Roman ever since college. He had intended to reveal his love for him the night before he left for Norway for a foreign exchange student program. But after a whirlwind of events and some unexpected turns in his life, he stayed in Norway and ended up finishing college there and starting a career as an architect. Sure his long-ago crush would have found someone by now, but he applied on the Male-Order app. Imagine his shock of being paired with Roman and they are a 99 per cent match.

I enjoyed this story but there was too much focus on Roman being a player in the past and there was a gap in how Salem ended his relationship in Norway and how his belongings were transported - surely he had to go back to close everything and ship stuff? There were also a few gaps in the conclusion of the guy who was obsessed with Roman where we knew the conclusion but not all of the details. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

Papa Bear for Darius

Papa Bear for Darius by Lorelei M. Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Omega Darius was always the antithesis of everything prized in his pack - something they reminded him of often as a child when his skinny physique and academic goals kept him on the outside looking in. Leaving his pack to attend university while most of the pups are just beginning high school has given him the freedom to explore all the academics he’s always longed to, but something is missing. Even years later when he finds his roommate and they form their own makeshift pack, he still feels off-centre, like there’s a hole in his life. And then he’s invited to the shifter hotspot Animals for their annual Halloween party. This will change everything. He can feel it. He just has no idea how much. Alpha Bruin spends his life travelling across the country installing eco-friendly updates to businesses. It’s a rewarding job, but a very lonely life. Not that he has anything to go back to. When his brother took over as clan leader, Bruin was given an ultimatum. He could challenge his brother or accept exile. Knowing a challenge would lead to his brother’s death, he chose never to return. The sacrifice has been worth it. Mostly. His latest work project, the club Animals, turns out to feel more like home than any place he’s been since his clan. When the project ends, he isn’t ready yet to leave, willingly accepting an invitation to their Halloween shindig. When Darius and Bruin meet it’s lust at first sight. Darius brings out the daddy in Bruin who helps him discover a side of himself he never suspected he had. If only it wasn’t Bruin’s last day at Animals and in the country, for that matter.

This was a sweet little story as fate (with a little help) put Bruin and Darius together. Bruin was very caring and gentle which Darius needed at times. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set on the omegaverse with MPREG.

For the Rest of Forever

For the Rest of Forever by Becca Neil
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Greg Westin’s thriving career as a landscape photographer is a passion he’s built and cultivated for decades. Although he’s now well into his mid-fifties, Greg is always looking forward, eager for the next mountain to climb, the next trail to hike, the next photo to capture. His love of nature and photography is second only to his love for his husband, Allen - a man with a heart of gold and more kindness and compassion than anyone he’s ever known. Allen Westin has worked hard to build a life he loves - a life that is not defined by the trauma he suffered in his childhood, but by the community and people he’s surrounded himself with. His career at the public library in the small town of North Bend, Washington has given him a sense of purpose and fulfilment, and his marriage to his best friend and husband, Greg, has filled his life with joy, love, and adventure. But when an incident at the library sets off Allen’s deeply rooted anxiety and depression, he and Greg have to face a new challenge - one where the next mountain to be conquered isn’t out on the trail at all. They must trust in the depth of their love to help them find their footing as they forge ahead into the next phase of their journey toward their forever, together.

This is a very emotional read as Allen and Greg go through a very emotional time as Allen struggles with his depression and anxiety. I loved the unconditional support from Greg although he had to do some soul searching as he tried his best to support Allen. They also had some key friends who supported them both in their own way. Easy to read, feel and understand you will feel emotional at times. This was an MM story with mature content.

Cal Hunter didn’t hate Jack Grayson the moment he met him. He liked the arrogant great white shark shifter until Jack left Cal zip-tied to a bed and stole Cal’s job. Now, every time their paths cross, things get heated, and they both have the scars to prove it. Jack has always worked better alone, but there is something about Cal he can’t get out of his system. So he finally finished the questionnaire on the Male-Order App and the next day got a 90 percent match, but he lived on the other side of the country. Maybe a change of scenery is just what this omega needs.

This was a sweet story of how Hawke met Aquila via a mail order app which helped these two mates find each other. A sweet story which will make you smile. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: The Dreamboat by Emerson Beckett by Rheland Richmond

The Dreamboat

stars

They call him Dreamboat for a reason. His friends say he'd flirt with his shadow if it got him laid, and they're not wrong. As a former Navy SEAL, he's highly trained to handle dangerous situations. The security firm he works for with his three best friends in Portland has given him a new lease on life, away from danger. Everything is great until he pissed off the wrong people. And they want him dead. Now this protector needs a protector. And he happens to be the one man he can't forget. The one he hooked up with a few months ago in Vegas. The one who sees him for who and what he is and still seems to want him. And that’s scarier than any enemy he's ever faced.

I loved this story as the Dreamboat finally met his match and got his HEA. I loved all of the emotions and feelings covered in this story. I also enjoyed catching up with all of the other couples in this series. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
