Review: The Dreamboat by Emerson Beckett by Rheland Richmond

The Dreamboat

stars

They call him Dreamboat for a reason. His friends say he'd flirt with his shadow if it got him laid, and they're not wrong. As a former Navy SEAL, he's highly trained to handle dangerous situations. The security firm he works for with his three best friends in Portland has given him a new lease on life, away from danger. Everything is great until he pissed off the wrong people. And they want him dead. Now this protector needs a protector. And he happens to be the one man he can't forget. The one he hooked up with a few months ago in Vegas. The one who sees him for who and what he is and still seems to want him. And that’s scarier than any enemy he's ever faced.

I loved this story as the Dreamboat finally met his match and got his HEA. I loved all of the emotions and feelings covered in this story. I also enjoyed catching up with all of the other couples in this series. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: A Family of His Own by Rheland Richmond 5 of 5 stars

A Family of His Own

A Family of His Own by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Former Navy SEAL Xavier Thierry knows he is good at his job to protect the client. You do the job but never get too close—that’s his motto. When the friend he owes for saving his life asks for a favour, he doesn't hesitate to say yes, no questions asked. But babysitting some pampered brat is nowhere on his to-do list. Until he first lays eyes on him… Cris. And he’s nothing like Xav expected. He wasn't sure when this man stopped being a job, but the rules blur once Cris ends up in his arms. How can Xavier let him go when he’s the only one who chases away the darkness? Cris Whitcomb thought he finally found his happily ever after. But the fairytale soon became a nightmare, one that left him with only one choice - to push away those he loves to protect them. His chosen family refuses to be pushed away. Their solution, call in someone trusted to watch over and protect him - Xavier. But what happens when your future walks in on the worst day of your life? Maybe sometimes you have to go through the bad to get the best.

This was a very emotional story and you will cry when you feel everything that Cris has gone through. I loved the combination of Cris and Xav plus the excitement of their family enlargement. Their families were a little crazy but also very supportive too. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

His Instant Family

His Instant Family by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ever since his wife died leaving him a single father of three, Dr. Michael Ashworth has thrown himself into his work. But it's come at a cost. Though he's now one of the best in his field, he's missing something. When he meets shy Teo, suddenly, he realizes what he's been missing, and he's shocked to discover it's a man. When word of his new interest in the smart, shy, and very male novelist starts to spread. Michael's rebellious teenager and bigoted in-laws threaten the happy future that's finally in his grasp. Can Michael have it all or will he have to give up the man he loves, to keep his family together?

I enjoyed this story with Michael realising that he was very attracted to a man after a long time grieving his late wife and then shy Teo getting used to an instant family with one very rebellious member. Teo's family (real and found) were great fun! I loved the confrontation and the way it was handled. We all need Teo's Mum in our corner! Easy to read, feel and understand. Review: A Family for Keeps by Rheland Richmond 5 of 5 stars

A Family for Keeps

A Family for Keeps by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After being thrust into unexpected fatherhood four years ago by the tragic loss of his sister, Tristan discovers the baby he's fallen for was accidentally switched at birth. As soon as he meets the father of the other child, he realises parenthood wasn't the only surprise Fate had in store for him. Nathaniel is everything Tristan always wanted in a partner, but how could he even hope to have a chance with someone under these tragic circumstances? While Nathaniel is fighting for his daughter's life, Tris discovers a deep need to fight for both of them—for all of them. Because they're a family now, like it or not, and Tris is determined to do whatever it takes to convince Nathaniel that together, they are a family for keeps.

I really enjoyed this story with the two men who were thrust together because of tragic circumstances but compromised, worked together and found that they were a perfect match. The ill daughter that only one could save was a nice touch and I liked that Tris's found family were fully involved and included in a lot of the story. Easy to read, feel and understand, you will have a few tears in places. This was an MM story with mature content.

Holding On to His Manny

Holding On to His Manny by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When Dean loses his wife, he wonders how he’s supposed to raise his children alone. Meeting Owen is like a wake-up call. Owen was the lifeline keeping them from drowning and he still is. Owen loves taking care of Dean and the kids, but he's broken the manny’s cardinal rule: No falling for the father. Especially a straight one. After six years of one-sided emotions, he knows he can't stay. Faced with losing Owen, Dean must confront his true feelings for the man who's helped heal his family, and his heart. He only hopes he hasn't waited too long to find the happiness they all deserve. It's time for a change and another wake-up call for Dean, before he loses his second chance at love.

This was a sweet story of a family who needed each other to feel loved and wanted - it just needed Dean to realise a few things before it was too late. There were a few silly things but overall it was easy to get invested in their relationship. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Forever With His Boss by Rheland Richmond 4 of 5 stars

Forever With His Boss

Forever With His Boss by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ford broke the rules and fell for his boss. Hard. All that time stranded together over Christmas, who could blame him? And maybe it was the magic of sleigh rides and kisses under the mistletoe, but... Sawyer fell for him too. Or, heck, maybe not. Because now that Sawyer had been called back to NYC, he'd gone radio silent. He was only supposed to be gone ten days, but now it's been a month and Ford is losing his cool. Would it be too crazy to hop a plane and go looking for him? But what Ford finds when he gets there only deepens his confusion, because his boss is holding a toddler and suddenly everything Ford had thought about his boss makes him question if he even knows the man he’s fallen for. Has Sawyer been leading a double-life this whole time and he's just too lovestruck to notice?

I loved this story and the way that the two men came together and cared for the children that Sawyer had inherited. Through it all they didn't lose their love for each other and there were only a few communication issues. I loved that they came together as a family. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Stranded with His Boss

Stranded with His Boss by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ford Erickson didn't plan to take his hot, and very rich boss home for Christmas. But when an incoming snowstorm grounds flights and there are no vacancies in the small town of Amber Falls, Ford finds himself in close quarters with the aloof man he’s been lusting over. A family Christmas in a small town was not how Sawyer Lancaster expected his holiday to go and his plans definitely hadn’t included his adorable assistant and his lovely parents welcoming him into their home. More like a holiday in his cold apartment… alone. But then again, the best gifts don’t always come wrapped in pretty bows. When the weather clears, will Sawyer find to the courage to accept that maybe, just maybe, he’s found the perfect gift in Ford?

This was a sweet story of how a boss and his assistant spent Christmas together and found love. Ford's parents were adorable and I loved their unsubtle hints. Ford and Sawyer were a great couple and they did great with their physical relationship but I do wonder if they can withstand anything in the future. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Ineligible Receiver by Rheland Richmond by Emerson Beckett 5 of 5 stars

Ineligible Receiver

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When Cooper met Greg Foster, the straight tight end for the Portland Pirates, the rookie needed a friend to bring him out of his shell. There was more to the shy twenty-two-year-old bookworm than met the eye, and he was the perfect person for the task. His roommate and best friend, Christian, was involved with the Pirates QB, so a new friend to hang out with was good. He pushed down his attraction to him and became the best friend he ever had. We bar-hopped all over Portland and played video games in our apartments. We even loved the same indy band from Seattle. Then they fucked up when they fell in love. And by fucked up, I mean they got married even though they knew their marriage had to remain a secret. No one knew about us. Not even our closest friends. And every time they asked, we gave them the same line - we're just friends. And ultimately, the reason for that secret would tear them apart. Now, here Cooper was three years after meeting him, and wasn’t sure how to survive without him. He was the love of his life, and he was his.

OMG this story was so emotional and you will cry a lot reading this. I was torn between hugging them or knocking their heads together. There was so much love and passion between these two men. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Roughing the Kicker

Roughing the Kicker by Emerson Beckett by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Friends asked Dominic to share it room with Jesse. What his friend’s don’t know is Jesse and him met in Madrid and had the best weekend of his life. They connected, but the timing was off. He went back to America, Dominic went back to Italy. Now, three years later, Dominic is the new kicker for the Portland Pirates, and Jesse is moving his security firm to my city. Would he remember him? Did that weekend mean as much to him as it did to Dominic? Will sparks fly again, or was that weekend just a fling? Only one way to find out.

I loved the passion between these two men and their relationship which was just as caring and passionate as you would expect. It was emotional at times so be prepared to cry at times. It was great to catch up with the other players, their husbands and children. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Illegal Motion

Illegal Motion by Rheland Richmond by  Emerson Beckett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Callum has built his life around his work as a vet, managing his equine rescue, and spending time with his friends. But one thing he never expected? Having the world's biggest asshole re-enter his life. His face haunted Callum's dreams and the memory of how he worked his body over was impossible to shake. Then the infamous Declan Miller, the new free-agent running back, has signed a one-year deal with the Portland Pirates. Now, Callum's life is turned upside down as Declan reappears, thrusting his unforgettable self back into his world. Declan met Callum in Alejandro’s Bar one night in late July, meeting someone was the last thing on his mind. But the sexy guy with wavy dark blond hair and hazel-green eyes caught his attention immediately. After a night of the best sex of his life, he knew he had to push him away. He wasn’t doing relationships anymore, and this gorgeous, funny man had the power to break him. But fate has a twisted sense of humour. Turns out, Declan's unforgettable hookup is part of his new friend group. Dr. Callum Kennedy wants nothing to do with him until he has no choice but to let me help.

This was a story full of passion as the line between love and hate are not that far apart. I loved these two men and that Declan was quite happy to throw his time, skills and money to win Callum over. As usual other team members and their husbands were involved in bringing the two men together. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Pass Interference

Pass Interference by Rheland Richmond by Emerson Beckett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ten years. It's been ten years since Marcus Monroe walked out of Aidan's life. Now he’s back as my brother’s #1 wide receiver. And he wants me back. We’ll see about that. Ten Years. It's been ten years since Marcus made the biggest mistake of his life. He let him go, and he regrets it every single day. He's been traded to the Portland Pirates, and his brother is my new quarterback. He'll stop at nothing to get him back. This time, there will be no interference.

I really enjoyed this story with the two men who loved each other but were apart for years because one took some very bad advice. I loved Aidan's determination to not fold easily and Marcus's determination to win him back. So much passion and love in this story which were clear in the writing. Easy to read, feel and understand. The Quarterback Keeper

The Quarterback Keeper by Rheland Richmond by Emerson Beckett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Christian just thinks he met a single dad of two at Cannon Beach but he was actually Alex Hayes, the NFL quarterback of the Portland Pirates . The dad he schools on the pleasures of how to love another man. He re-awakens his dormant bisexual side that he'd never had a chance to really explore. Their connection is strong and by the time the week alone is up, Alex wants more with him. Until Alex's reality invades their bubble and he has to break his heart. And his own. But Christian is a keeper, and he'll do whatever it takes to win the football hating hottie back. Even if it means playing dirty.

I loved this story as the quarterback does every thing he can to win his son's schoolteacher over until he was his again. I loved their relationship and the deep love that they shared. Christian has such a beautiful soul. This story was full of passion and emotions that were easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

The Linebacker

The Linebacker by Emerson Beckett by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Patrick Griffin is a linebacker in the NFL, I've never found the right time to come out of the closet. Not even when I promised Cole I would. But now, with Cole's band, Fallen Angel, in the spotlight along with my team, the pressure is mounting. Everyone thinks we're just best friends, but the weight of my secret is tearing us apart. Cole Bradley wants the world to know he's in love with Patrick Griffin and has been since they were eight years old. Patrick is the love of his life, but it’s been years of waiting and excuses. All our friends, even his teammates, have a public life. So why can’t we? He promised it would be different in Portland. But then he tells yet another reporter he’s single. Cole needs a break. It’s perfect timing since our band is heading out on tour. Cole doesn’t know if he can live without him. But he doesn’t think he can do forever in the closet. It’s always been Patrick for me, but is it too much to ask for the world to know he’s Cole's too?

I loved this story with all of the angst and drama between the two men which came to a point of almost no return after a devastating car accident. This is a tear-jerker of a story as we live through their emotions and concerns and wonder if they can find a way to be together in the future considering they have loved each other since they were eight. But thanks to his friends, and his best friend Simon, the team doctor, they'll heal and make it through. Simon Taylor is the hardass team doctor that lets nothing get by him. His Boy to Heal (Naughty or Nice Season Two)

His Boy to Heal by Rheland Richmond
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Gage runs a successful cyber security business but following the tragic death of his brother, he is now the guardian to his two-year-old niece called Laney. She is feeling the loss of her father and the disruption to her life and his attempts to get her a nanny have all failed until he hires Ari who is perfect for Laney (and Gage). Ari has just come out of a relationship and is shy of men and definitely of being abandoned. Gage did a profile on Cuffd with a letter to Santa and Ari has a profile there too. Can Gage and Ari find love as much as they both love Laney to have the kind of HEA they all deserve?

I liked this story with Laney at the centre as they both focused on what was right for her as well as what was right for them both too. I loved that they had a disagreement but were able to discuss it and sort out their differences. The Christmas present for Gage from Ari was inspired. Easy to read, feel and understand. This story contains mature content with an MM BSDM-like DDLB/Ds relationship.

I liked this sweet story with the single Dad who needs a Daddy to take on both himself and his daughter. I liked Maddox even though his past mistakes really did cloud his judgement at times. Fragile by Skyler Snow by Rheland Richmond

Jack was flying to LA to check out the relationship between his son Elliot and his best friend Scott. It appears that Elliot wants his friend Tom to be a buffer to help him cope with the new normal but as he talks to him then he realises that there is more to him than the flirty and over-the-top persona that he presents even though deep down he is lonely. Tom finds that the more he gets to know Jack the more he wants him to be his and he has no idea if he wants to stop falling for him.

I loved this story with Jack who had put his life on hold while he brought up Elliot but was now starting to feel things for Tom and a lonely Tom who was starting to feel things that he wasn't sure he should stop. I loved the way that emotions came out when he had been intensely drawing Jack and that was very moving. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is a story containing MM mature content into a light BSDM-like DDLB relationship with a sweet HEA.
