My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Rocco Bianchi, an underboss who treats danger like a game, crosses paths with Kalen O’Ryan, an FBI analyst who slips undercover into the Bianchi world while visiting Boston to care for his mum. Their flirtation turns into a charged push‑pull as Kalen gets drawn deeper into the fiercely loyal Bianchi family. He must decide whether to walk away or fall in line — especially as he rediscovers his little space and realises the man awakening it might be the Daddy he didn’t expect.
Their relationship definitely has an unconventional beginning, but the connection between Rocco and Kalen is hard to deny once it sparks. I liked the way they tried to navigate that pull while also protecting each other as their worlds collided. However, I did find parts of the story difficult to believe, and some of their interactions felt a bit manufactured rather than naturally developed. I also struggled with how Kalen’s mum was written — she seemed far more ill throughout the book than she appeared to be by the end, which made her storyline feel uneven. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.
