The mix‑up leaves them both scrambling, but a real friendship starts to grow. As Jamie’s attraction deepens, he can’t help wondering if Hank might still be his Prince Charming… or if he’s barking up the wrong tree.
Jamie and Hank start with a warm, easy friendship built on their shared love of dogs, and that connection becomes the heart of the story. I especially enjoyed how people around them began to question whether they were really just friends, while Jamie stayed determined to let any shift between them be Hank’s choice, not something he pushed for. There are emotions and tender moments throughout, but I did find myself wishing the book had gone deeper into themes like fluid sexuality and demisexuality. Even so, their growing bond is sweet, steady, and genuinely enjoyable to follow. This was an MM story with mature content.
