My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Aspiring singer Daniel Lincoln is trapped in a violent, controlling relationship, and the only person he can turn to is Ben Collins — the bodyguard who once found him bruised and terrified backstage and quietly offered help. Months later, Daniel finally makes the desperate call Ben hoped he never would. Ben steps in immediately, pulling Daniel out of danger and into safety, but escaping an abuser isn’t simple. The threats continue, and Ben’s role shifts from professional protector to something far more personal as their bond deepens. Daniel begins to trust Ben with his life, and Ben becomes determined to keep him safe, no matter the cost. With danger closing in and feelings growing stronger, Ben must protect Daniel not just from the man hunting him, but from the fear that he’s unworthy of love or safety. Ben refuses to let Daniel down — not this time, not ever.
I loved this story that was charged, intimate, and full of layered vulnerability. I also loved that the real rescue was emotional: helping Daniel rebuild a sense of safety, autonomy, and self‑worth was more than the physical rescue. I loved that by the end of the story their relationship shifted from crisis‑born to stable, chosen, and lasting. Easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
