Review: The Silent Night Stalker by Courtney W. Dixon 4 of 5 stars

The Silent Night Stalker

The Silent Night Stalker by Courtney W. Dixon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Enzo discovers that the notorious “Silent‑Night Stalker,” a killer who strikes every Christmas Eve, has chosen him as the next target. Still mourning his best friend, Enzo is attacked in his own home — but the encounter takes an unexpected turn. Instead of a cold, calculating predator, the Stalker turns out to be a man called Constantine who is unstable, frightened, and strangely submissive. As Enzo confronts him, he realizes the man is far from the ruthless figure the police imagine. Their clash becomes a disturbing psychological entanglement, forcing Enzo to question how someone so timid became a killer — and what it means about himself that he instinctively knows how to take control of him.

I enjoyed this dark romance with the two men who understood each other as they were both different sides of criminality. I loved that Enzo expected Con to be a ruthless killer — instead he found someone frightened, unstable, and craving direction. The story examined the unsettling human instinct to empathise with someone who has done terrible things. I also liked that the story showed that even in dark circumstances, humans seek connection — sometimes in twisted or unexpected ways. I don't think that everyone will enjoy this story even if they like dark romance but everything does come good at the end. This was an MM story with mature content.
