Review: Shaun's Salvation by K.C. Wells 4 of 5 stars

Shaun's Salvation

Shaun's Salvation by K.C. Wells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shaun’s life revolves around two things: long shifts at a Portland restaurant and caring for his father, whose dementia leaves Shaun exhausted and isolated. The only bright spot is Nathan, the compassionate in‑home nurse who sees just how much Shaun sacrifices. Nathan has admired Shaun from the start — his devotion, his kindness, and the quiet loneliness he tries to hide. Shaun may think there’s no room in his life for anything but responsibility, but Nathan hopes to show him he deserves more: support, joy, and maybe even love.

I loved this deeply emotional story about sacrifice, loneliness, and the quiet courage it takes to let someone in. Shaun’s life has been reduced to work and caring for his father, and the weight of that responsibility is portrayed with heartbreaking honesty. His exhaustion, isolation, and fierce devotion make him an incredibly sympathetic character. Nathan brings a different kind of tenderness to the narrative — patient, steady, and genuinely compassionate. Watching him gently encourage Shaun to believe he deserves support and connection adds a beautiful layer of hope to the story. Their relationship grows not through grand gestures, but through small moments of care, understanding, and emotional vulnerability. I loved Nathan's Mum and his entire family who were a beacon of care and love for Shaun. This touching, heartfelt romance explores love as something healing, earned, and desperately needed will definitely cause a few tears. This was an MM story with mature content.
