My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Wayne has sworn off dating and keeps to himself, while Foster — the shy neighbour down the hall — wishes he could break through Wayne’s grumpy exterior. When Wayne’s mischievous spirit grandmother intervenes, he’s forced to face the clairvoyance he’s long denied and his growing feelings for Foster. With Foster in danger, Wayne must step up, accept who he is, and maybe open the door to love.
A charming, emotional story with an undeniable pull between Wayne and Foster — two men who are instantly drawn to each other even if Wayne tries very hard to pretend otherwise. Wayne’s grandmother’s meddling was hilarious and surprisingly effective, making sure the two of them had absolutely no excuse not to meet and finally start something real. I loved Foster’s quiet determination to get to know Wayne, and the patience he showed as Wayne worked through his hesitation. The predatory agent added a genuinely tense edge to the plot and gave Wayne’s grandmother another dramatic moment to step in. The mix of supernatural nudging, family complications, and the growing bond between Wayne and Foster made this a heartfelt read full of emotions that were easy to understand and feel right alongside them. This was an MM story with mature content.
