When Evie lost her husband the rest of the Connor Clan of Pine Creek rallied around her as part of looking after one of their own. On her own still, 10 years later, she has continued to provide for herself and her daughter Matilda with some help from her parents. Luke is on the run from someone bad from his past in order to protect his pregnant sister. He always intended to move from place to place and not get attached to anyone or anything. However, when he meets Evie and her daughter Matilda, both sides appear to have woven their way into each other's hearts. However, when the past catches up with him, all could be lost - can he save his sister plus Evie and Matilda before it's too late?
This was a sweet love story that definitely tugs at the heartstrings as the story develops. I loved the detail around the characters in this story and the way that their interaction changed as their romance was progressing. Throughout it all, Luke was determined to protect those who he loved (which has expanded to include Evie and Matilda) It was full of drama and danger that definitely got under your skin. I became addicted to the story in the end and could feel my reading speed going faster just because I needed to know what happened next. Well written, easy to read and understand and very enjoyable. Contains some explicit sexual content.
