Review: Tomas's Trials by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Tomas's Trials (SEALs of Honor World / Heroes for Hire Book 26)

Tomas's Trials by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ex SEAL Tomas is excited to be going to work for Levi so that he can use his existing skills in new ways. His first assignment is to go undercover in a supremacy group that have lots of weapons although what he finds when he is there is far more complicated. Amber joined the group to rescue her friend Annette but finds out that she is dead, no one will talk about it and there is a coup happening. She doesn't want to leave without answers and so she contacts an old friend for help - when Tomas arrives he is not what she expected. It doesn't take long for them both to realise that the danger is escalating to the point that they might not be able to leave alive.

I really enjoyed this story with the glimpse into the workings of a supremacy group with the comparison between them and what was essentially a cult. There was a lot of fear and violence associated with this group and I have to think of the parallel that there were too many so-called rules that it was getting similar to life outside with all the rules that people have to follow. I loved the way that Tomas did everything he could to protect Amber and that he was comfortable playing the doting fiance so that they were not suspicious of either of them (plus it got her a break). Easy to read and understand I was addicted to this story and found myself reading fast and faster as I needed to know what was going to happen next. Contains some explicit sexual content at the end.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
