Singer Tayla Shaw is singing on a cruise ship but it is not what it seems because someone who offered her protection holds her as a prisoner and living in fear. When she meets a handsome passenger who gives her romance and scorching kisses her heart fills with the hope that she can finally escape. Dragon shifter Jaxon Scott is trapped into taking a holiday on a cruise ship with his parents after his mother tricked him (not realising that renowned matchmaker Gerri Wilder was actually the one who arranged it). When he sees Tayla it becomes quickly clear to him that she is his fated mate and he must try to hide that fact from his parents. Tayla and Jaxon try to fight their attraction but there really is no point. Jaxon starts to suspect that the captain is holding something against her and so their happily ever after is threatened by dark secrets and a diabolical captain.
I enjoyed this story with the unenthusiastic Jaxson, the family dynamics around their business, and the effects of finding his fated mate. I loved the way that Gerri and his mother played a high profile role in providing distractions for Jaxson and Tayla to have some time. I loved the way that the story ended and what was actually behind the captain which was not exactly what he wanted it to be. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content. Definitely a HEA.
