Joanna Hertz has devoted her life to her work especially since she walked in to find her boyfriend with another woman. Now her charity is all that she has and she likes it that way. When Gerri Wilder promises her romance she is not interested however that might change when Marcus makes her think again. Quite simply wolf shifter alpha Marcus Malone is a workaholic who has no room in his life for relationships. Then he meets Joanna and he knows that she is the one for him, so even though he does not want a mate, some rules are meant to be broken. No one can anticipate the pressure building in Marcus's pack as a war is brewing and his alpha position and therefore life is in jeopardy. But when Joanna steps in to try and help him he has to make a choice - his life or hers.
I really enjoyed this book with the dramatic pack politics interjecting into the story of how a workaholic was able to learn to delegate and how people who were avoiding a relationship could learn to trust and love another person. There were a number of dramatic moments and it was great to see how they learnt to handle it. I loved the way that they became a great source of support to each other. Contains some mature content.
