Review: Ransomed by Tana Stone 4 of 5 stars

Ransomed (Tribute Brides Of The Drexian Warriors, #4)Ransomed by Tana Stone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After being abducted from Earth Trista's now a tribute bride and she expects her Drexian Warrior to be big and gorgeous. What she really didn't expect was for him to take her hostage. Drexian Torven is a member of Inferno Force so is bigger, tougher and much more dangerous than many others. When he was falsely accused of treason he knows that his only hope is to escape and give his fellow warriors time to prove his innocence. Taking Trista as his hostage wasn't in his plan but considers it a stroke of good luck until she shoots him and causes them to be marooned on a frozen planet. Between running from ice creatures, avoiding alien pursuers he wonders if she will become more than just his captive?

I enjoyed this book which had Trista fighting an internal battle on whether to trust Torven (which manifested into shooting him) and Torven fighting to retain his honour, resist Trista and keep them both safe and well on the frozen planet. I was pleased that so many people were trying to work out who was behind the framing of him as well as the fact that they had a result at the end of the book. Well written and easy to read/understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Dragon's Mate by Miranda Martin 3 of 5 stars

Dragon's Mate (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, #2)Dragon's Mate by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Jolie is jealous that her best friend is together with a hot alien dragon-man and so is depressed. Others are taking the life-giving epis but it is addictive and if I start to take it she is stuck there on that planet. So I am stuck coping with the sweltering heat trying to live on the dwindling supplies. Then she is kidnapped by and then rescued by another big sexy alien dragon-man called Sverre and she starts to get her wish. Can they find a way to communicate and can she get back to her friends?

I enjoyed this story and it was very fortunate that he was at a different level of the dragon-man society and could help the humans more with the city they have made into their new home. I loved the dependence between Sverre and Jolie and how they found a way to work together in the future which meant they could compromise and be strong too. Easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Simon Says... Hide by Dale Mayer

Simon Says... Hide (Kate Morgan Thrillers #1)Simon Says... Hide by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Detective Kate Morgan worked hard to get to that level and having come from a family of victims she stands up for the victim, abhors those that prey on them, and never backs down. So when Kate finds a connection between several cold cases to a recent case where a child's life is in jeopardy she'll make a deal with the devil if he has to in order to protect the child. Simon St. Laurent has a gift of the sight and knows that once he uses it he can never walk away. But when nightmares of his own past are triggered he just can't stand back and watch child after child being abused. So Simon vows to save the children even if it means he has to deal with critical and very cranky detective Kate Morgan.

OMG - a change from the usual subject and style of book from this author but already I am addicted and want to know what happens next both between Kate and Simon as well as what kind of case will they be jointly involved in next. I loved their relationship which had distrust on the one side and hesitancy on the other merged into a physical attraction that it was almost impossible to ignore. It was certainly a mystery that the reader was able to puzzle along at the same time as the detective Kate and Simon. I could feel and empathise with their thoughts and emotions and navigate the mystery with them both. Contains some explicit sexual content. Read this and become addicted. I wonder if Simon could give me a set of lottery numbers?

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Review: Sakev by Elin Wyn 4 of 5 stars

Sakev (Conquered World, #4)Sakev by Elin Wyn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Originally from Fraga, Dr Evangeline Parr (Evie) lost everything when the Xathi attacked, so when she is asked to establish a new clinic in Einhiv she immediately says she will help. However, she has to have smartass and constantly joking Skotan warrior Sakev with her. That view changes when they are in a new explosive situation when she sees a protective and efficient side to him that intrigues her. Sakev joined the Skotan fleet after an unusual career which has relegated his past to the background as the fight against the Xathi has intensified. What he never expected was for a human to break through his constructed facade and as things adapt and change keeping Evie safe becomes far more than just another mission - it instead becomes the only mission he cares about.

I really enjoyed the surly joker of Sakev and how he suddenly found he had to adjust his thinking and priorities as the fireworks between him and Evie morphed from just disagreements on approach/results and became something far more personal between them. I loved the way he then became dogged in his determination to protect her at all costs to himself. He was heartened to see that he had adapted into something more like a partnership and real affection as it was obvious at the start that they both irritated each other. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: A Real Flame Changer by Milly Taiden 4 of 5 stars

A Real Flame Changer (Paranormal Dating Agency Book 33)A Real Flame Changer by Milly Taiden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Melody Harper is ex-military and now working for the Bureau of Alien Affairs. Her boss is stunned when she is the person picked by Gerri Wilder to be the person to pose as the girlfriend of visiting alien prince Unos while she is his bodyguard. Normally sidelined due to her rough around the edges style, Melody is not one to pass this opportunity up although she is going to have to exercise extreme control if she is not going to cause a diplomatic incident when she wrings the irritating but handsome prince's neck! Prince Unos of the Night Dragon Kingdom is a scandalous bachelor and can't see any reason for that to change even if his parents are pleading for him to find his mate and settle down. When he meets Melody on this trip to Earth he is just consumed with thoughts or touching her and her delicious scent. With a killer aiming for UnosMelody is going to have to spend every moment with him but she is fending off more than a would-be assassin as Unos is doing all he can to seduce her, Will the Prince live long enough to make the sassy human his?

I enjoyed this story which was a fun light read that was very amusing. I did find the parts with her trying to show him the local nightlife partly amusing and partly irritating as her mannerisms and language are probably more to the taste of readers from the US. However, I loved their starcrossed lovers' vibe and how everything worked out in the end to give them a HEA. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
