My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Bear has lived around crime lords for so long that he is not likely to recognise a normal life even though he actually has one with Creed. Since Bear's baby brother Gabe went missing fourteen years ago he stopped living and just focused on finding him, freeing others or eliminating those to use and torture these children. Creed isn't dumb and he knows when someone isn't interested in him and so when he met Bear at a local club with his constant hot and then cold swings he should be driven away. Creed has no idea what it is about Bear but he keeps flinging himself at the brick wall that is Bear. It’s possible Creed’s persistence will pay off someday and Bear will love him back… or maybe Bear’s nonstop lies and double life will get Creed killed.
I really enjoyed this story with the lies, the new information about why Bear did what he does and the various dynamics around there, it is a wonder that Creed didn't run as far as he could. I loved the way that the story ended and the lengths that Bear had to go to in order to sort things out with Creed. Bear's reaction to Ender was impressive especially what happened in the previous book of this series. I loved the way the relationship between Bear and Creed developed and how deep it seemed to be and so fast. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
