Review: Poison in the Pansies by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Poison in the Pansies (Lovely Lethal Gardens Book 16)

Poison in the Pansies by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Doreen is out on the lake trying to paddleboard (unsuccessfully) with her BFF Corporal Mack Moreau when they find some poison in a bed of pansies. She manages to get a little information from Mack about a man who recently walked into the ER complaining that he had been poisoned. Under the usual threats, Doreen agrees to stay out of his case but when talking to her beloved Nan it brings up another recent death of an old woman who was adamant she was being poisoned for months, no one took notice and now she is dead. Doreen's case and Mack's collide, while she is delighted when Nan decides to get involved in the sleuthing with pal Richie it's Doreen's turn to worry - it turns out with good reason!

I enjoyed this story which felt like a far more complex story than the previous ones, probably due to the way that the cases connected to each other. I loved the way that Nan and Richie got more involved even though that might not have been the wisest move. At least it gave Dorren a better feel on exactly how Mack felt about her involvement in his own cases. There were definitely levels and surprises in this story which were quite fun to read and try to work out exactly who was responsible. Easy to read and understand. Finally, Doreen is allowing Mack to hug her and I have great hopes for them (if only her divorce was finalised). Easy to read and understand. A very enjoyable murder mystery.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
