Review: Elliot by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Elliot (Hathaway House #5)

Elliot by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elliot Carver was a Navy SEAL and came to Hathaway House to get help with the repercussions of a mission gone bad. His body is physically dealing with spinal cord injury and his mind is caught in a loop of painful memories that manifest themselves in PTSD. Nurse Sicily Lawrence used to work in an ER and after leaving there while making her way out of a difficult relationship she settled on doing the nightshift as it is nice and peaceful. He really doesn't need to get involved in a difficult relationship but she has seen injuries like those on Elliot before and she knows a particular type of therapy can help even though Elliott is not interested in it. Sicily needs to put him towards the progress he needs and that runs the risk of losing him. Can he cross the hurdle so they can be together?

I enjoyed this story which had a stubborn SEAL who was not prepared to deal with anything he was frightened or nor anything that upset him. It was lovely to see his journey through his struggles as well as how Cicily tried really hard to be a therapist first and a friend second. I think it is easy to resent those who are only trying to help us and that was definitely clear in some parts of this story. Easy to read and understand. Will make you smile as this story comes to an end.
