Hailey Trent is a law enforcement officer, but she is also a spitfire and would do anything to save a life. After her latest reprimand, she is moved to work with a paranormal team as someone is killing dragons. Sloan is a dragon shifter and leads a team of dragons trying to find the killer. On their first day as working teammates, he realises that she is actually his mate and so with sexual chemistry between them that is off the charts they have to work as partners in order to stop the mystery killer. Can they find out who it is, stop them and can Sloan get the girl and have the HEA that they both deserve?
I enjoyed this short story which was a good introduction to the Draconis series and a HEA is always a wonderful this to read about. I did find Hailey very hard work - he attitude and her manner just wound me up as I have no idea what gave her that sense of entitlement that she could do whatever she wanted without any thought. I was glad that they made some progress and were able to see past their differences. I was also glad that Sloan appeared to have a calming influence on her. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
