Cannon is a dragon shifter and the government has locked him up and used a device to suppress his dragon. Then he is offered a deal - rescue an abducted human female medic called Ryver Fernando in exchange for his freedom. The complication is that she is actually his mate and the woman who imprisoned him is actually her mother. Things are going to get interesting.
I loved this start to the series. It was a great twist on the shifter, special-ops kind of story with a touch of fated mate added for good measure. I loved Ryver who was definitely sassy and determined to not show any weakness. Their relationship was built on trust and it was great to see her do her best to have a partnership but also be prepared to accept help when it was obvious that it was beyond her. Very easy to read, feel and understand. Easy to become addicted to this story. Contains explicit sexual content.
