Review: Finding Finn by Shane K. Morton 3 of 5 stars

Finding Finn

Finding Finn by Shane K. Morton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After a career-ending injury, Finn leaves behind his Broadway dreams and lands in Foggy Basin, reluctantly running a community theatre. The last thing he expects is to clash—and secretly swoon—over Jim James, the gruff technical director who’s lived in the town his whole life. Jim sees Finn as arrogant and out of place, a too-pretty reminder of his past. But beneath the bickering and bruised egos, sparks fly. As they navigate creative differences and personal baggage, their tension turns into something deeper—challenging both men to confront what they’ve lost, what they fear, and what they might be brave enough to build together.

I enjoyed this story which was a rich, emotionally textured exploration of reinvention, resistance, and the slow, often reluctant path to intimacy. I liked how the story explored how identity is tied to purpose, and how starting over means confronting grief, ego, and the fear of irrelevance. I found it hard to get behind the characters as Jim just annoyed me with his closed mind and Finn was easier to get a feel for but was too two dimensional. There were some feelings and emotions. This was an MM story with mature content.
