To the Moon and Back

To the Moon and Back by N.R. Walker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gideon Ellery’s picture-perfect life unravels when his long-time boyfriend walks out just weeks after they adopt a newborn. Suddenly a single father, Gideon is drowning in exhaustion, stress, and the pressure to return to work. Enter Toby Barlow—cheerful, nurturing, and freshly back from nannying abroad. He needs a job and a place to stay, and Gideon needs help. Though wary of letting a stranger into his home, Gideon reluctantly agrees, and Toby quickly becomes indispensable—not just to baby Benson, but to Gideon himself. As Toby settles into their lives, sparks begin to fly. But neither man is ready for the emotional mess of falling in love, especially when it’s the last thing they were looking for.

I loved this story of a grumpy single Dad, the sunshine nanny and them falling in love. I was intrigued by the concept of  Gideon’s sudden shift from career-focused professional to overwhelmed single father that captured the emotional toll of unexpected responsibility. The story explored how love for a child can coexist with exhaustion, fear, and self-doubt—and how asking for help isn’t weakness, but a form of strength. I loved how Toby’s integration into Gideon and baby Benson’s life isn’t just about childcare—it was about creating a new kind of family. It highlighted how love and stability can be built from scratch, and how home isn’t a place, but a feeling of safety, laughter, and shared growth. It was full of emotions and feelings with some added passion. This was an MM story with mature content.
