My rating: 4 of 5 stars
After a difficult year, Darby faces the holidays alone. A gift from his best friend — store credit for a New Year’s outfit — leads him to an unexpected twist: he gets locked inside a fitting room. Instead of panic, the moment turns magical when Kip, the store’s owner, stays with him. Through laughter, conversation, and Kip’s off-key singing, Darby discovers comfort and connection in the most unlikely place. Though he can’t see Kip, his older confidence, charm, and rich baritone voice stir feelings Darby thought he’d lost. What begins as a mishap becomes the spark of possibility — perhaps even a Christmas miracle — as Darby wonders if the man behind the door could be the dream he’s been waiting for.
I loved this story about finding joy and love in unexpected places, where even a locked fitting room can open the door to hope. This was definitely a feel good story of finding joy in unexpected confinement, rediscovering hope through laughter, and realising that miracles often arrive disguised as ordinary moments. This story made me smile. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
