Zak was a single father who was trying to find a balance between his son, his business and his friends. When he was feeling lonely he allowed himself a one-night stand with ex-Army officer Kenzo but one night wasn't enough. Kenzo liked to help everyone but he didn't help his best friend when he needed him most and so he was even more obsessed with helping friends. So Kenzo kept his roommate's secret and almost destroyed his burgeoning relationship with Zak. Can they find some way to share trust and information in order to find a way to move forward together?
I liked this story and the way that it showed that we all have trauma in our lives, not just military veterans. It was also a good lesson in the need for honesty and communication in any relationship. I loved their way of protecting those they loved and the way that Zak's son Dane was important and central to them both. It was great to see that teamwork was important and that it could be a team of friends, colleagues or even strangers. Easy to read and understand. I could feel their hesitancy, confusion, and love. Contains mature MM content.
