Review: Slow Dating the Detective by Sue Brown 3 of 5 stars

Slow Dating the Detective (Cowboys and Angels #3)

Slow Dating the Detective by Sue Brown
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Keenan Day met a hot stranger when he was escaping his sister and her friends who had dragged him to a strip club and he could sick himself for letting him get away. When he is at an interview for a job at Cowboys and Angels he gets a punch in the face and out of the two cops who come to check on him one is the same guy - Detective Nate Gordon. Their initial attraction has not reduced and although Nate is very leery of commitment and Keenan wants a proper relationship they have one hookup that turns into another until they are technically seeing each other just not using any other name but hookup for it. When they are almost at an impasse a crisis shows them what their friends have known all along - they are already past a hookup and are actually in a relationship - can they decide together how to move forward?

I am in two minds with this book - on the one hand, it is all very romantic eventually, but on the other, it was so tortured and painful that I struggled to enjoy it in some places. I loved that they got to the right conclusion and that it was just a case of accepting that actual events and behaviours were clearly way past a simple hookup but the process was incredibly emotional and painful. Easy to read and understand, I was swept into the emotions felt by Keenan at the end. Contains mature content of an MM nature.
