Panther shifter and billionaire Devin Mitchell has everything except a mate which s fine by him as he has learnt that people can't be trusted and that darkness can lurk even if the most trusted of friends. When he meets Kate he is tempted to throw all of his trust issues to the wind and give her his heart. With dreams of becoming an interior designer, Kate Reese is stuck working in a discount furniture store. Having had a lifetime f bouncing between divorced parents she always felt like the odd one out and she had as many trust issues as Devin. Loving him should not be possible but her heart is arguing to say he can be trusted. Gerri Wilder can bring them together but even the fated mate sense won't be able to guarantee they can overcome their trust issues - that is going to take hard work and determination.
I enjoyed this story although I did find the introspection and trust issues a little tedious at times which were laboured as the storyline went on. The shifter fight was quite interesting as I thought that it would turn Kate away from shifters given their violence. Easy to read and understand. Contains mature content.
