Layne has a Daddy who is hot, strong, loving and possessive until the doors are closed and everything changes and he becomes abusive and vicious. He is resigned to a life of fear when he meets Branson who is smart, sweet and endlessly patient. Branson had a messy breakup with his boy and so all he wants to do is work and meet some like-minded friends. Kintan and Layne appear to be that for him until he realises that secrets festering behind the surface when he starts to realise that things are not what they seem. Can Branson pull Layne out of the fire? And what happens when an arrangement as just friends turns into so much more?
Trigger Warning - domestic violence.
I enjoyed this story with Layne who was just downtrodden and caught in the trap of wanting to please his Daddy while also trying to avoid the constant "punishments". Branson was so strong for Layne and gave him all of the love and support so that he would realise that his life with Kinson was not healthy and not acceptable. There were lots of raw emotions for both Layne and Branson and it was easy to feel and empathise with them. Easy to read, feel and understand. There was plenty of mature content in this MM book with a BSDM-like DDLB relationship.
