My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Author Paul Stone moved to Wyoming to avoid white people, and journalists and to focus on his writing. Student Blaze Langdon had a following on Instagram and is trying to save the small hamster-like creatures called a pika that lives in the Grand Tetons National Park by doing his university capstone project by observing them in the wild. To get there Blaze almost tumbles on a concrete barricade on Paul's mountain and they then find that they can have far more than they bargained for as they have an easygoing companionship, shared social justice causes and steaming hot sex. Maybe the pikas will give them both a gift for their protection of them?
I really enjoyed this story which focused on saving the pikas, Paul showing Blaze that taking time and making love is far more fulfilling than quick sex that may or may not even satisfy and that staying true to yourself makes you far happier. I loved Paul's learning/revision tips and the side characters of Paul's editor and his elder sister both sounded like great fun. Easy to read and understand. Contains an MM relationship with some mature content.
