Review: Gage by Eve Riley 4 of 5 stars

Gage (Smokejumpers, #4)

Gage by Eve Riley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Firefighter Gage Torres was thrilled to be chosen to go to California to train to fight forest fires but he is sad that he has to leave his younger brothers behind, whom he’s never been away from, but they have some unexpected news of their own to share. Aerial Firefighter Xavier Cruz is an instructor for the Sacramento Fire Division. A former fighter pilot for the Air Force, he suffers from PTSD and has turned to alcohol to fight the nightmares. But if he’s ever going to mend his relationship with his son to protect him like a real father would, Xavier needs to find a way to get sober, and fast. During a routine practice flight, their helicopter is attacked and they crash in the forest. Forced to share body heat when they spend the night in a cave, things take an unexpected turn and survival becomes a night neither of them can seem to forget. Will Gabe and Xavier make the connection between them work, or are they doomed from the start?

I loved this story as Gage and Xavier were there for each other after their adventures during the practice flight. Gage's sensitive and practical help for Xavier around his alcohol dependency was welcome and sensitively written. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story of strong men with deep feelings. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
