Augie doesn't need protection even after a home invasion but to appease his sister he agrees to take self-defence lessons. He is allocated Saint Wilde a big, muscled former Navy SEAL who is everything he'd always daydreamed about but never thought he could have. Saint is dead set on looking out for him even when things in his life are suddenly complicated. Between the increasing threats against him and pressure from his wealthy family to be someone he's not, he's having a hard time keeping it together. Then Augie starts to wonder - while Saint's busy looking after everyone else, who's looking after him? Saint is benched after opening his big mouth and getting into trouble with a high-profile client. Now he is back in his hometown teaching self-defence to an antiques nerd in a local gym but when attractive and petite Augie arrives he nearly trips over his own feet as he is adorable and very scared. He won't tell Saint what's spooked him, but he won't rest until he finds a way to take the fear out of his gorgeous eyes. Even if defending Augie means he has to stop protecting his own heart.
I enjoyed this story with the treats to Augie and his horrible family at the heart of his problems and Saint trying to protect him while getting to the bottom of something Auggie wasn't prepared to talk about. There was so much chemistry between the two men that it was inevitable that they would end up together they just needed the right conditions for it to thrive. The crux of Augie's troubles were all around his family and I loved the way that his grandfather tried to protect him as best that he could. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
