It’s Alastair’s life mission to wipe out every leader of the assassin programs around the world. It’s the only way for him to live with the nightmares. Over the years, not only has Alastair made progress in his goal, he’s also saved a few teens who were left for dead when they didn’t make the cut. He never expects one of those survivors would end up saving him. Alastair rescued Reed from a hellish existence. He set Reed up with a new life and gave him everything he needed to keep going. Somewhere along the line, Alastair became Reed’s reason for living. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to make Alastair stop seeing him as a victim. He needs Alastair to see him as the man who loves him even if Alastair doesn’t love himself.
I loved this story with the horror of what they had both faced, their coping strategies and the sheer grit and determination Reed had to live and be with the men he loves. I loved Reed's new friend who tried to give him some help and support. As with all of these books in the series, there was some darkness and danger involved but thankfully that helped Alastair to realise that he had to act on his feelings. In the end, they were a cute couple they just had some rough edges too. Easy to read, lots of raw feelings and easy to understand. This is an MM story with mature content.
