Review: Dominated but not Subdued by J.P. Sayle 4 of 5 stars

Dominated but not Subdued (La Trattoria Di Amore, #2)

Dominated but not Subdued by J.P. Sayle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Adam Grainger comes from an affluent family but has never mentioned it or used it as he knows it does not guarantee love or affection. Over the years he has developed a shield of witty comebacks to hide his self-doubts which he needs when he finds himself sparing with his new boss Carl. Their attraction is instant and inconvenient when he needs to prove he’s not just a pretty face. Renowned chef Carl works hard in the kitchen and plays hard in the BSDM club he co-owns. Then sassy Adam who is twenty years his junior and is the perfect submissive changes his outlook and so they keep their relationship secret to avoid the "no staff fraternisation policy". Adam needs to be dominated but not subdued and so they need to find a middle ground form of Daddy.

I enjoyed this story of the deeply protective relationship between them that does not perfectly fit into a standard BSDM-like relationship. I lived the way that Carl stood up for Adam against the people who were never satisfied with Adam no matter what he did (and yet should have been the most supportive). Their interaction could be fiery and a little explosive at times, but there was absolutely no reason to doubt the strength of their love for each other. Easy to read, feel and understand. Definitely some moments to make you sigh and smile with joy. This MM story contains mature content and a BSDM-like DDLB and D/s relationship.
