Review: Stevie & Mack by Ali Ryecart 4 of 5 stars

Stevie & Mack (Barista Boys #2)

Stevie & Mack by Ali Ryecart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stevie is homeless, desperate and now a thief when he is caught stealing food from a cafe he can't believe his luck when instead he is offered a job and a place to live. Mack is furious when he catches the filthy street kid stealing food and is even more furious when his uncle refuses to call the place and takes pity on the boy. Stevie's desperation was his own salvation as he is embraced with warmth by all who work at the cafe - all except Mack who cannot conceal his distrust. With food in his belly and a safe place to lay his head at night, Stevie’s hopeful of a better life to come - and maybe love, if he can win both Mack’s trust along with his heart.

I enjoyed this story with the two men who were in need of help for different reasons but were not that far from each other on many levels. I could definitely feel the emotions as we learnt more about Stevie and his desperate story which also meant that Mack's wasn't quite so different it was just that he was able to get help from his uncle much faster. I loved the extra personal story that we got from everyone and that it helped to understand them and their motivations. I was thrilled when they finally got their HEA together and everyone was just relieved that they had got their act together. Easy to read, feel and understand. This MM story contains mature content and some mention of abuse.
